I'm surprised that nobody's started one of these up yet.

I'm curious as to what everybody's doing for preorders, if they're doing preorders at all. I've made a few phone calls around my area to find out what's going on, and it's kind of interesting how things are going this late in the game.

GameStop -- preorders available. online and stores, bundle and game-only available.

Amazon - preorders available online. bundle and game-only available.

Best Buy - NO preorders for acccessories. Online preorders for game only. Stores have no preorder information at all for either. However, Guitar Hero III is surprisingly available.

I've pre-ordered the bundle from EBGames.com for the PS3. Only option I have as living in Ireland it won't be out here till the new year and it's very hard to find an American website that will ship it internationally, I imagine due to the peripherals.

you're surprised this game is available? Sorry to sound like a complete RB fanboy (which I absolutely am haha) But the only reason I would buy GH over RB is for the guitar (heard some meh stuff about the rock band one) which I still won't (I'm mostly bass so I don't expect to be thrashing much) I definitely think RB will outsell GH, despite the high price.

I think I'll be getting it from GameStop if Best Buy doesn't offer a preorder by October 1. I could probably extend that date, but I won't be guaranteed one at launch. They may not be in limited supply yet, though I have a feeling that the supply won't meet demand. Those are going to take up some hefty shelf space!

I've preordered special edition RB at brick and morter Gamestop near my house. I'm like 2nd on the list, so I feel good. For GH3, I've preordered guitar and game at RedOctane's online store. If you preorder from them, it's free shipping, and they throw in a leather strap and a carry bag. If Harmonix ends up offering something similiar somewhere, I'd be willing to change my pre-order for little extras like that.

I would like to preorder it by all the EB Games here in Toronto Canada that I've gone to have a Rock Band Special Edition in their system with no release date and no price. I've been screwed over on stuff in the past so I'm waiting until something more concrete is listed. It has been like this for the past 2 months I hope EB Games Canada gets their act together soon I'm tired of waiting to preorder (sad I know).

Personally, I'm waiting until I hear a release date and prices before I put any money down. All the same, it's getting pretty close to the supposed release window and I might be tempted to go ahead and put money down on it soon.

Wait. That's near Sac State. College area. Maybe I should go to one not near the college. Either way. I'd rather not have to deal with preordering online. Last time I preordered something it was a Harvest Moon game for my wife, and it arrived several days late. :/

I have The Bundle pre-ordered from GameStop (in store), and have $100 down on it. I plan on waiting for the official price to be announced, but I think throughout October I'll put down $25 here and there until it is paid in full. I don't want anything over my head when I go to get The Bundle. I like being able to walk in, grab my stuff, walk out... and with something as big as The Bundle will be (size/weight wise I am guessing) I would like to take care of business before hand so I wont have any hassle when I pick it up.

Also for what it is worth, my GameStop said that they street dated Rock Band to 11/20. He said they brought it back to that date (I am assuming in reference to the 11/6 date) and once it is actually street dated it is *usually* spot on (I am still waiting for an official announcement either way). Also, as someone posted, the second CA Tour Stop is the National Launch Party (that tour stop will be on Sunday 11/18)... so... take it as you will, but it seems 11/20 is a pretty solid date to look forward to.

What is the special edition anyway?

I didn't know what "Special Edition" was until I placed money down on my preorder. Special Edition is the full Rock Band (allegedly) $200 bundle, coming with the guitar/drum/mic/game. I'm not sure why they call it the "Special Edition" and not the "Bundle" like this site and their own sites do, but a good deal is a good deal.

Any ways, I placed $217 (200 plus tax) on the Special Edition for Xbox 360.

And he's gonna pay my band 200 bucks each to play till like, 3 AM (My actual real life band, that is). So I'm just going to be playing some Rock Band songs all night! Almost as good as playing the game itself! Now, I just gotta get the Highway Star solo down...

The fast part at the end of the solo, or the beginning?

Can't really help you with the beginning. But as for the end if you can't strum that fast for that long of a period of time, play it as triplets and add an extra pick to the end.
