PS3 Guitar Options?

Ive searched the forums a bit, and read most of the threads but I cant find a good thread explaining it all. Ive been away from the forums for a bit because my ps3 broke, but its on its way to being replaced now.

What are the options available for me pretaining a 2nd guitar for my PS3?

I know the old release date was mid april, and now its past that. Whats the word? Should i buy the official rock band guitar? Should i buy this TAC adapter im reading about? OR should i go non-official? NYKO, or whatever.


Any opinions are helpful, and thanks in advance.


ps If it was a cheaper option I would buy an adapter and a GH3 guitar so i could play that game...never have but id try it

Nyko sells a PS3 guitar which supports Rock Band.

I have not heard of anyone getting a GH3 guitar to work with PS3. Harmonix allegedly made a patch to add support and Activision stopped them.

As far as I know, you could go with the RB guitar, the Nyko, or take a risk and get the TAC PS2 adapter.

I like the RB guitar, but I've heard of many people having to RMA them at least once (including myself). Also, my friends who are used to using only their thumbs on the strum bar have said it isn't as comfortable as GH2 controllers. If you hold it like a guitar pick (pinch it with your thumb and forefinger), it works well in my experience.

I have not heard anything about the Nyko guitars as of yet.

Thanks for replying. I would hate to buy a Rb guitar, just for a guitar to come out weeks later that lets you play Rb and GH3. I havent even played GH3 but id like the option to without having to buy a totally different guitar.

Maybe ill wait out this TAC thing to see if it works.

TAC adapter works well if you have old SG guitars (I tested two of mine and they work almost flawlessly in Rock Band).

1) Rock Band Stratocaster (as always)
2) GH3 Les Paul (if you spend an additional $30-40 modding it (http://www.rockband.com/forums/showthread.php?t=26452&page=8))
3) PS3 Nyko Frontman (http://www.nyko.com/nyko/products/?i=130) (just came out)

The TAC adapter is only for PS2 guitars and controllers, so no.

No, the TAC adapter only accepts PS2 controller connectors. The only option for the PS3 Les Paul right now is the mod chip one listed above.

There's more guitar options for PS3 than there are for XB360, I believe, due to the newly released TAC (TheAntCommandos) Universal Convert/Adapter.
