Any other "Rhythm Guitarists" out there...

I think I was born to be a rhythm guitarist. I play guitar on expert and have beat everything but I can't five star any songs with crazy long guitar solos. I can gold star all of the songs with alot of chord changes though, all of the Oasis songs, the QOTSA songs, Celebrity Skin, the Boston songs, the AAR songs, Bowies stuff, Here It Goes Again, the Rush songs, Police stuff, the Smashing Pumpkins songs, and the Ramones songs. They come so natuarally to me. But the fast guitar solos I have to save a full bar of overdrive just to keep my head above water. I've read a couple times on here about people that have trouble with the quick chord changes, and I was just wondering if there was anyone else in my boat...

I am a lot like that. I can 100% ride the lightning until the solo

However, I definitely enjoy solo's.

depends on the song for me.....some solos are insanely rough and some others are actually pretty easy to 100% (wanted dead or alive comes to mind... i dunno why the solo is a billion times easier than that part just before the end with the whole (random note red green business that kills me!)

But yeah overall I hear ya I wouldn't mind seeing rhythm guitar setup either... then we can finally have some interviews with Bobby Bandiera :D

I 5-starred almost all songs on Guitar Hero 2, but I love to play the Rhythm in Jessica or Free Bird...

I'm right there with you. I can Expert 100% things like Here It Goes Again, The Hand that Feeds and Crushcrushcrush, but if I'm not sharp those quick half notes can give me all kinds of trouble. Needless to say, GGHT is the bane of my existence. That my husband (who is actually Ayar - I steal his login) can get through GGHT easily on Expert is sort of annoying. :rolleyes:

Yeah, I really wish they would sub in Rhythm guitar instead of bass where appropriate like they did in GH2. If they ever released Freebird or Jessica for RB, i'd really miss playing those parts. It'd be great if you could choose either bass or rhythm for any song if applicable. Then those who are bass haters wouldn't mind not playing lead so much.

Perhaps this will happen in RB2...:D

I'm exactly the same way. I can do great on most songs (expert level), but as soon as crazy solos kick in, I just fall to pieces. I really wish I could figure out how to play all those sweeps, zigzags, etc.
