Rockband 2 does not need to come for at least a few years or until a new system arrives. With Rockband now you can download new songs every week (although most are crap..) and they can even have patches up for download so why request a part 2 when part one only has a few minor flaws here and there just live with what you have and wait a few years before begging and pleading and asking when Rockband 2 will arive.

There is a need for Rock Band 2. This is what I posted in the other thread about this.

"My guess is that PS3 and Xbox360 will never see a Rock Band 2, but the PS2 and Wii will since they do not have access to DLC. Think about it like this: right now Harmonix has almost 100 songs already mapped out for Rock Band that they have no way to get to the PS2 and Wii. It makes sense for them to release a disc of these songs.

Hell, they might even do it for the PS3 and Xbox as well just so we can have a hardcopy of our DLC."

What you are talking about is expansion packs not sequels. However, I would be a sequel regardless just because I love the game, but I don't think it's necessary just yet. Maybe 9 months to a year from now.

Yea instead of releasing a Rockband 2 just release a disk with content that you can put into your game.

Nearly everyone is allready asking for an expansion pack allready anyway, so this almost goes without saying.

I feel bad for people with only a ps2 or wii, but honestly: WAHHHHHHH!

I bought a 360 so I could play Rock Band the way it was meant to be played. The PS2/Wii versions are consolation prize games for consolation prize systems.

Releasing another disc full of DLC that I allready have would be pointless. As others have stated - a new iteration of RB is about adding features and gameplay modes, not songs.

It just makes business sense. Thats why you have Madden every year. There are a ton of people that don't get online, don't even know there are songs to download, don't get the patches. etc.

Plus you have the marketing side of things. Look at all the GH AeroSmith marketing everywhere. You have to get your product in the press, in the stores, in the ads, on banners inside bestbuy. etc.

You better believe they were already forming a plan for RB2 prior to the release of RB1. And you better believe that activision started a plan to get the drums and the microphone in GH4 they day they found out thats what RB was doing. And that was way before either RB or GH3 was released.

There's tons of stuff that needs to be added to RB via a patch. If they won't do it and save the improvements for RB2, I might just get off the treadmill.........

I know I got my $60 dollars out of the game but I am interested in your take on what they still owe you. What stuff would you say needs to be added via patch?

Oh please just read the thread stickied on the first page. I started it even though my original post is no longer there. I suspect they're just mining the thread for RB2 ideas rather than fixing RB1.

If I'm proven wrong in the next few weeks, I'll apologize.

No, let me apologize. I thought we could have a decent conversation about this.

I've already posted ad nauseum about what I'd like to see added/changed. I don't have the time or patience to type it all up again. Sorry.

No problem.

Obviously they do need to add a lot and change some stuff. I think the game was fairly ground breaking and a more than solid "freshman" effort. Like I said, I got my $60 out of this game.

I guess I don't really understand why you think we should get all these changes for free.

Maggot_Brain

Maybe not all the things I'd like to see are economical to offer for free. But something as needed as a setlist editor so you can actually play through albums - that addresses basic functionality of the game and should definitely be patched gratis.

What you list there I would totaly agree with.

not an outright sequal but I cant fault them for expansion type things as long as something new gets to the table. I wouldn't complain over a party version of new touring including online touring. make a "Rock Band:Rock the World" would sell pretty fast and appease those who want the online bwt they can't currently give us via patch at the moment. port the disc songs/ allow dlc reads/ and strip out all modes outside world tour/online wt and you could charge easy for it and sell it.

I say allow it to come as long as what we have purchased in terms of DLC is usable in the next iteration.

I would hope that any future versions of Rock Band would still allow us to use the original rock band drums, guitar, and mic. Well, I'm actually pretty certain that would be the case, because I don't think it would sell well if they made you buy EVERYTHING all over again.

Nothing is official until its official but all your old peripherals and DLC I am sure will work in the next version.

I am also sure they will have another "special" edition with fancy new designed peripherals in it. Some of us have to always have the latest and greatest.

$60 for 58 songs on a disc (actually, I paid $30), or $116 plus download time for 58 DLC songs. Where do I sign up for another disc?

I'm kinda on both sides of this

If a RB2 came out, I'd be happy. But I'd definetely be hoping for an awesome setlist of songs. As much as some features such as a setlist creator is needed, the songs are what keep people coming. If there's some great songs, and our DLC is compatible, then I'm a happy camper.

However, I think an expanision pack would be very logical for Wii and PS2 owners, as well has Xbox360 and PS3 owners without online. It could have the most popular songs that have been available for DLC, and we don't have to pay more for another new disc. We could just keep getting our DLC.

I guess within the next few months to a year we will find out what happens.

:confused:stop thinking what ever you dumb ass guys want, you get.if people want to ask for rockband 2 let them, some people think a part two with ALL THE THINGS THEY DID NOT PUT IN RB1 CAN BE A BETTER GAME.and no, they cant add all of it to this game with patches.that can take over a year, just to do that.stop *****ing:(

Rockband has so many flaws, and there are so many improvements that could be made to a sequel, suggesting they not make one is ridiculous.

As long as the DLC is compatible, what is the problem?

You dont want it, dont buy it.

I would buy it today.

Rockband is very good.

Rockband 2 could be twice as good.

There is no reason to not make a sequel that has all the features we have been asking for.

Better graphics? I'll take a sequel.
Smoother animations? I'll take a sequel.
More songs? I'll take a sequel.
BWT Online? This should have been in a patch considering it was promised and never delivered. I will not pay for this.

I'm sure a "rock band 2" would have improved graphics and interface, along with other features not in the original that would make it worth buying. Solo bass tour? SOLO WORLD TOUR? I'd buy it for those. BWT online? No, I'm not paying for something that should be patched into the original because they just couldn't make it work at the last moment.

If you don't think that they are already making Rock Band 2 you are sadly mistaken. Do you think that everyone working at HMX just sits around charting music for DLC? What about the animators/artists? Programmers? What do they do all day? :P

They certainly aren't working night and day on patching Rock Band so I can do BWT online. :(

Don't you think that before too long that anyone who plays this game at least 1 time per week is going to get tired of looking at the same venues, as well as the same animations for each and every song? Besides, at the very least, we need a patch so that we can play "World Tour Mode" online, instead of having to put out advertisements to find people to play this mode locally.

The sad thing is, if not for competition from the Guitar Hero franchise, as well as other franchises that are just itching to get in on the "Music Gaming" genre then we most likely wouldn't see any publisher go out of their way to bring us anything more than what we have at this very moment. Believe it.
