Calibration Question: Why not use the Mic to determine perfect audio calibration?

Rockband comes with a Mic, so why not have the user set the Mic next to them and have the system calibrate the audio delay perfectly and automatically? Seems like it would be easy to do and simplify a calibration process that not all would agree is straightforward.

not a terrible idea though, as I understand it, the mic has an inherent lag to process the audio so it may make this trickier

This wouldn't help sync with the video since each TV has a different lag as well. Hoever, what if we combined the mic with the PS Eye camera accessory?

No, you're right it wouldn't, but it would eliminate one variable competely, and make calibrating the video lag that much easier IMO.

The camera is an interesting idea. maybe any usb webcam? :)
