So I really haven't been too active in the song nomination section, simply because I don't know what I'd nominate that a) people are terribly familiar with or b) would have a decent chance of getting in. Not that I'm trying to be a music elitist or anything, I just have some odd tastes, and have a love of relatively unknown bands. So, with that out of the way, let's see what I can pull out of my noggin here...
Floater
My first pick has got to be Floater (www.floatermusic.com). Located in Portland, OR, they're on of the most original and talented bands I've ever seen. A huge diverse catalog of songs spanning the past 13 years, these guys seriously bring the rock. If you're anywhere on the west coast (especially the northwest), go see them! You will NOT be disappointed, as they've got one of the best live shows EVER.
The entire Glyph album needs to be DLC, as in it's entirety, it's an amazing sonic experience, rocks entirely way too hard, and has some of the bands greatest songs, such as "Cinema" and the drinking anthem "The Sad Ballad of Danny Boy". The album is quite up and down, so it's part heavy, part dark, and everywhere inbetween.
"Mexican Bus" off of Angels In The Flesh, Devils In The Bone would be a fun song, but I think that "American Theatric" is the clear-cut winner as being the most rocking song on the album.
"Queen Of The Goats", "Exiled", "Here Comes The Dog", "Alcoholic", "King Rabbit", "Marriage of the Black Sheep", and "Independence Day" would all be great picks off of Burning Sosobra.
Alter is a great album, but it's a bit slower-paced... But it's quite melodic, and very deep. "Zero Hour" would be an awesome pick, to start.
Stone By Stone is the newest album, and songs like "An Apology", "Weightless", and "In Transition" would be great to start with.
I know I'm a bit crazy going into so much detail, but this is one band that I truly believe in, and I think would be a huge challenge for EVERYONE involved. The band is comprised of three members, the bassist handling the vocal duties, and he's a GREAT bassist, so EVERYONE will have a fun time. I know that HMX likes to break new artists where possible (most of them are friends of the devs, but still), and it'd be nice to see Floater get some love on a national level. Someone at HMX needs to check this stuff out, and see if it's a possibility. Please? :D

Wow, took almost three months to get one of these posts. Whelp, there goes that streak.
Thanks for keeping this on-topic there, buddy.

Great start to the post there. Very great, very humorous, sets everything up. "There goes the streak" marks where the quality decreases. The second part was simply too cliche in terms of sarcasm. It's very obvious and simple. I say if you took out everything except "Wow, took almost three months to get one of these posts" you'd have a great post. The other stuff is lower quality, and just drags on the post. You want short and sweet when it comes to a sarcastic retort.
Trust me, I'm a professional.

Thanks, it's just a stolen internet fad image though
I listened to a song for a few seconds. Much better than I expected. Not the typical generiternative you usually see.
The more I listen to it, the more I realize how great it is. If they get big, they might save Rock.

Exactly. These guys aren't exactly "radio-friendly" with the exception of a few songs, yet they've got an insanely huge following in Northern California. They do what they want, how they want, and their label backs them 150%.
Edit: I posted a couple of videos over here (http://community.rockband.com/vbforum/showpost.php?p=56330&postcount=43).

I agree with that. 2 bands that I think will revive rock if they get famous are:
Rose Hill Drive:
Showdown-http://www.rosehilldrive.com/Showdown.mp3
This is their hardest rock song so far and it would be fun on all instruments.
Reptilian Blues (Live)-http://http://www.rosehilldrive.com/ReptilianBluesLive%2012_30_06.mp3
More of a bluesy song, but still would be fun on all the instruments. This is also a live version so its a little bit different than the recorded version.
Valient Thorr (they made fall of pangea in GH2, but that isnt a very good song):
Man Behind the Curtain-<object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/MfuSCUAIQM8"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/MfuSCUAIQM8" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
Awesome for everything, but the singing would be especially hard.
Exit-Strategy-<object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Zvh_N64nCZo"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Zvh_N64nCZo" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
Another song great for everything.
If Floater, Rose Hill Drive, and Valient Thorr all got in Rock band that would be awesome. Hell I would be happy if any of them got into Rock Band.
