The Ponys (http://www.last.fm/music/The+Ponys?q=the+ponys)
My brother brought me on to this band a while ago. I love them! Celebration Castle and Turn the Lights Out are two amazing albums. They're described as Indie Rock. Which I apparently like, because I love these guys. Really, give em a listen. Playing along with their music in RB. Oh boy. For me, that'd be amazing.
Listen to: Another Wound, Discoteca, Sad Eyes, Double Vision, Everyday Weapon
The Vapors (http://www.last.fm/music/The+Vapors?q=the+vapors)
Hey, remember that song Turning Japanese? Yea you do! Guess what, these guys wrote it! And they released two albums, and no one listened to them! But guess what - They're good! (At least New Clear Days is, I never heard Magnets..) Seriously, all of their stuff is very catchy. Great riffs, great lyrics, good drumming too! But really, if you like Turning Japanese, give the rest of their stuff a listen. Playing along to these guys in RB would be so great. They're really damn catchy.
Listen to: Spring Collection, Turning Japanese (of course.), America, Waiting For The Weekend
The Rakes (http://www.last.fm/music/The+Rakes?q=the+rakes)
Finally a band you might know. But probably not - The Rakes are another indie rock band, not like the Ponys very much at all. I first song I ever heard of theirs was 22 Grand Job. Man does that thing get stuck in your head. So I listened to the rest of their first album and it was really great. Great for all instruments. Not too sure what else to say about these guys though. Give em a listen for sure.
Listen to: 22 Grand Job, Retreat, Work Work Work (Pub Club Sleep), Strasbourg
Supergrass (http://www.last.fm/music/Supergrass?q=supergrass)
Haha, I almost forgot to mention this band! Supergrass was my favorite band for the last 5 years of my life. They have a catalog of 5 CDs and every one of them is amazing. They're described as alternative/britpop/indie rock. Really, give them a listen. Each CD has a more evolved sound than the one before, and, oh man, I dont even know what to say. Please give these guys a listen. Oh yea, they wrote that song Alright. You probably heard it from the movie Clueless, or on the radio maybe sometime in the 90s. Their stuff isnt like that, but even better!
Listen to: Alright, Pumping on your Stereo, Caught by the Fuzz, Seen the Light, I'd Like to Know (perhaps the best song for RB of theirs), Kick in the Teeth, Sun Hits the Sky
Blur (http://www.last.fm/music/Blur?q=blur)
Another band I forgot about. You know Song 2? You know, that one that's been played at every sporting event since it was written? "Waaa-hoo! When I feel heavy metal! Waaa-hoo!" You know it, trust me. Well guess what, absolutely none of their other stuff sounds like that, and they shouldn't be compared at all. Lol. But yea, they're a britpop band, and if I'm not mistaken they were rivals with Oasis back in the day. Better, imo. But if you like british stuff (verrrry british stuff), then give them a listen. Very solid band play, by the way.
Listen to: Song 2 (>.>), Parklife, Beetlebum, Country House, Girls and Boys, Bank Holiday
Louis XIV (http://www.last.fm/music/Louis+XIV?q=louis+xiv)
These guys are kinda like Franz Ferdinand, except all of their songs are about sex. And here's the good part, I dont know if they swear at all in their album and its still the most risqué album I have. Fun, huh? But yea. Their album is really great, with good guitar work, catchy lyrics, the whole shebang.
Listen to: Finding Out True Love Is Blind, Pledge of Allegiance, God Killed the Queen, Louis XIV, Paper Doll
