DS Guitar Hero 'to get its own peripheral'19.09.2007

When Guitar Hero is released on the DS, it will feature a special control unit and not make use of the system's stylus, an insider has confirmed.

Some had feared that the DS version of Guitar Hero III would force users to rock out using the stylus and deprive gamers of the fun of using the special peripheral guitar which has made various incarnations on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 2 such a success.

However, one of the designers, Andrew Earle, let slip in an interview with the website GamesAreFun that the DS stylus would not be the main method of control when the game is released on the Nintendo system.

Mr Earle did not reveal anything more but said that the new system could well mimic that used in other versions of the game.

However, this has done little to explain the system. As techdigest.tv points out: "Holding a mini-guitar at the same time as the DS would be impossible, unless you were cradling the DS on your lap, so it'll be interesting to see just how a mini peripheral will be adapted to use with the DS."

Guitar Hero III is set to be released on the PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii and DS sometime later this year.
id say it will be a slightly smaller version of the normal guitar hero guitar similar to (those of you from UK/Ireland) the sort of thing you see on the brown couch on Gonzo: With Zane Lowe on MTV2, but thats just my guess

I envision the DS clipping into the guitar itself, aka like the Wii Remote does, with the top screen flipping out so you can see the notes scroll by. Hopefully it comes with an Amp similar to Jam Sessions, I don't think the DS speakers are that great. I don't know how successful GH III DS will be, I'll be interested to see, I know I'm not going to buy it.

I dont think it will work out i mean would you really go to Work/School/Outside with Ds and a Mini-Guitar ?

This seems very lame, same with that "Jam Sessions" thing i keep seeing commercials for on TV.

GH3 is going to be such a disappointment.

I was thinking that you could have a device with 5 fret buttons that would fit verticly onto the left side of the bottom screen of the DS that would face opposite direction of the screen. It would plug in through the GBA slot like how the rumble pack does and then you could use the one of the A,B,Y,X buttons as your strum button and use the D pad to activate starpower. So this way it's not too big and you still get the Guitar Hero feel on the go. The notes would begin on the top screen and end on the bottom. I think this would be a very cool and convenient set up for the game on the DS.
