The few songs I've heard of them have been great! I've never been that much into it but they're a good band.

The Clash is great. They have influenced so many modern punk rock bands.

The Clash Rules.

It's a shame Strummer passed when he did, though.:(

London Calling is one of the best albums ever. Is there a bad note on it anywhere?

The Clash were a great band. I just wish they had picked a better song for Rock Band. Should I stay or Should I go is one of thier most repetitive and boring songs.

I am a big Clash fan. They had so many styles in their music besides just punk. They were a great and very influential band.

I agree on Stay or Should I Go. It would have been way cooler to get The Magnificent Seven or Clash City Rockers in there. Both pretty popular songs in their own right too!

I think they should of had London Calling,Clampdown,(White Man) in Hammersmith Palais,or All the Young Punks. Any of those I hate Should I Stay or Should I go.

Tommy Gun would be a great choice. I love all their stuff but not all of my favorites would make good Rock Band songs (The Card Cheat and Lost in the Supermarket for example). Jail Guitar Doors would probably be pretty fun. I'm partial to their earlier work but I'll buy any Clash tune released on DLC.

I named my dog after Joe Strummer. People always ask how we came by the name Strummer or they think I'm a big guitar freak.

The Clash had a couple good records - London Calling and Combat Rock (I like the first record, but the lyrics are just too juvenile for me). A lot of the rest of their music was pretty crap, in my opinion.

Clash are my #3 favorite band. I have a 3 tier system

Tier 1: The Who (and equivalent) - You gotta be really good to reach Who status.
The Who
Clutch
The Clash

Tier 2: Everything Else
Everything Else

Fall Out Boy (and equivalent) - You gotta really suck to reach this:
Fall Out Boy
Avenged Sevenfold
Flyleaf

The Clash are my 3rd favorite band to Nirvana at #2 and Red Hot Chili Peppers at #1. Their first three records are the pinnacle of rock. Combat Rock is just pretty good, and their other two albums aren't very good at all.
Rudie Can't Fail would probably be my next choice for Rock Band by The Clash. I'm So Bored With The USA would rock, also.

You fail to see the genius of Combat Rock. Songs like Red Angel Dragnet, Straight To Hell, Atom Tan, and Ghetto Defendant are without a doubt some of the best work The Clash ever did.

Other 2 albums? According to my IPOD (I have every Clash Album, including the singles box set (the 19 singles CDs one)) The Clash had more than 5 albums. Let's count, shall we?

1) The Clash (U.K. Original Version)
2) Give 'Em Enough Rope
3) The Clash (U.S. Version with substantially changed tracklist)
4) London Calling
5) Sandanista!
6) Black Market Clash (Compilation of B-sides and rarities)
7) Combat Rock
8) Cut The Crap
9) Super Black Market Clash (More B-sides and rarities)
10) From Here To Eternity: Live

On top of that you have the compilations/box sets:
1) The Story Of The Clash Volume 1
2) The Singles (2 versions)
3) The Essential Clash
4) Clash On Broadway
5) The Singles Box Set (19 CD set of all U.K. Released Singles)

Which 5 were you refering to?

Huge Clash fan here. I like most of their stuff (Yes, even "Cut The Crap"), just wish they went longer before blowing up like they did.

I was referring to The Clash (US version), Give 'Em Enough Rope, London Calling, Sandanista!, Combat Rock, and, um, Cut The Crap. I feel like an idiot now. I meant six, not five. And to the guy who said I didn't appreciate Combat Rock- thank you for not mentioning "Rock The Casbah" as one of the great songs. I do like the record, but I think their first three are much better.

Yes, big Clash fan here....but one question...

WHere the hell's the love for Complete Control? Man that would be just perfect for the game imo....

Yeah, I mean I love Rock the Casbah, but it's far from one of the best songs on the record. But all of the good stuff on Combat Rock seriously outshines the first record. The only other song of theirs I can think of that comes close to the later parts of Combat Rock would be "Lost In the Supermarket".

If you're a huge Clash fan, go see (or rent, when it's available) Joe Strummer: The Future is Unwritten. Excellent documentary on the guy in specific and the Clash in general.

You hear influences of the clash in tons of the 90's Punk bands. But the clearly the most infleuced by the clash has to be Green Day. weird group of influences GD has too:The Clash,The Who,The Sex Pistols, and Husker Du.

I hear more of The Clash in Rancid than Green Day... the use of Ska / Reggae beats are there in almost every album.

Green Day and Rancid are products of the same area, but you are right, rancid does pull more the Clash.

if i had to summarize
45% the Who
35% the Clash
20% Husker Du

I was similarly, or at least it seems as though most people on this thread have expressed feeling this way, dissapointed in Should I Stay or Should I Go...I just don't see how they could not go with something off London Calling...On that note, would anyone else have rockband-gasm if London Calling (the complete album) appeared on DLC--that would be mad fun

The Clash rules - from their self-titled (both versions) to Combat Rock (Cut the Crap is...well...crap). Their place in history alongside the Sex Pistols and the Ramones is well deserved. I want to name my first-born Strummer, but my fiancee isn't going for it.

I put The Clash in my top 5 bands of all time,
even after they split up Joe Strummer kept it going with The Mescaleros
but unfortunately he died.

I agree with the RB comments, it should have been either "All the Young Punks" "Stay Free" or "Death or Glory" in there.

We need The Clash in the game now more than ever. After seriously discovering The Clash over the past few months, I cannot find a single other band (and I've been looking very hard) that matches the passion, conviction, enthusiasm and laser-like focus displayed by Strummer, Jones & Co.

If they aren't the greatest band of all time (or for you Beatles fans, the punk/post punk era), I don't know who is.
