View Full Version : (Un)official DLC Poll 2/3: What ONE style of music do you want more of?
S1ckH4nds

Simple set of three questions for you to answer regarding the DLC. As I'm sure everyone who frequents the forums knows, the weekly announcements of DLC usually turn into a total clusterf*** of a thread in short order, with few exceptions. Unsurprising, as there's a huge cross section of gamers that play Rock Band, and it's pretty hard to get three songs or one album to appeal to everyone. So, here's the second question:
What ONE style of music would you most like to see more of as DLC?
The ten choices above are the ten genres currently included in the game. While I have provided some examples of the artists in that genre, please do not make your decision based upon those bands alone -- please choose according to what your favorite genre is, and what your favorite bands fall into, regardless of whether they're currently in the game or not.
Originally, I had drawn up this poll with an eleventh choice, "OTHER", which would be for all the genres that do not currently exist in the game, such as country, goth, hip-hop, synth-pop, and techno. If you would rather see one of these currently unrepresented genres in the game, please do not vote in the poll above, but post your preference in this thread.
If you decide to post with additional information to back up your vote, please keep it clean and friendly. We don't need any more flame threads saying "all this stuff sucks" or "you have no taste in music" or "lolz epic fail" etcetera.
Also, please see the following threads for parts 1 and 3 of the (un)official DLC poll;
(Un)official DLC Poll 1/3: Would you buy more DLC if HMX released more? (http://www.rockband.com/forums/showthread.php?t=48098)
(Un)official DLC Poll 3/3: What ONE decade do you want more DLC from? (http://www.rockband.com/forums/showthread.php?t=48100)
Your participation in each would be appreciated!

This is so utterly pointless. HMX does not care what you or any of us think.

I put in the vote for more Pop-Rock, because these songs are the best "gateway" songs for new players of rhythm games, especially females. That, and they can be big hits at parties.

Whether that's true or not, it's neither here nor there. I'm posting these polls simply because I am interested in seeing what the results are. And yes, believe it or not, I do care what you think. Have you voted yet?
Also, not to get into an argument with you -- I'm really not interested in forum flamewars -- but prior to the album announcements, I had posted a poll in regards to whether or not people would rebuy songs from the Guitar Hero series (http://www.rockband.com/forums/showthread.php?t=41190) as DLC. The response was overwhelmingly positive, with 70% of respondants voting YES in one form, and another 29% voting MAYBE depending upon the song. Shortly thereafter, the first album to be released was Judas Priest's "Screaming For Vengeance", which features "You've Got Another Thing Comin'" from GH1/GH2 DLC, and "Electric Eye" from GHE:RT80s. Coincidence? Possibly... or maybe they listened to the response that particular poll got. Who knows? Point is, it never hurts to try.

I really don't care what genre, just put out some DLC that is popular and that most people know.

While I voted "Alternative" because it had Radiohead next to it, I'm willing to buy every single kind of music listed, as I do have a wide musical taste.

I think a more accurate poll would be a multiple option poll. Which of these genres would you will you rarely if ever purchase. That would be far more useful as there are several options up there I would purchase but there are some that I will NEVER purchase. Which is really what Harmonix would care about more...

I simply trying to give you some advice. Look, if you're going to buy every single track they put out, then quit b1tching about the song selection.

I wish this was multiple choice. I like all of those styles in one way or another. I like Bowie (Glam), The Clash (Punk), Rush (Prog.), etc. I like so many bands across the styles that I really can't vote here.
I think this poll should have included an "Every Style" option. :)

I need more METAL. Not so much the current groups, but late 80's, early 90's stuff. I want thrash, sleeze, and hair bands.

"Sabotage" is listed in-game simply as ROCK, surprisingly. As I had stated earlier, I had hoped to put an "OTHER" option in for all other styles of music currently unrepresented by the game, including hip-hop. Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing more Beasties, or The Roots, or Black Eyed Peas.

Grunge (ex. Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden etc.)

Your advice is not needed, nor is it warranted. And I'd hardly say I'm *****ing about the song selection; there have been very few tunes that they have released that I dislike. I started this poll simply because I was interested in finding out what other people would prefer to see in the game.
Hey, I know. Why don't you derail this thread too, with another one of your off-topic posts complaining about how (http://www.rockband.com/forums/showthread.php?p=486285#post486285) you (http://www.rockband.com/forums/showthread.php?p=486655#post486655) can't (http://www.rockband.com/forums/showthread.php?p=486663#post486663) copy (http://www.rockband.com/forums/showthread.php?p=486678#post486678) your (http://www.rockband.com/forums/showthread.php?p=486730#post486730) save (http://www.rockband.com/forums/showthread.php?p=487083#post487083) data (http://www.rockband.com/forums/showthread.php?p=487121#post487121). Failing that, I suggest either voting in the poll, or remaining silent.

I don't know that I'd list 30 Seconds To Mars, All-American Rejects, Fall Out Boy as good examples of Emo. Not trying to be rude, mind you. I feel as though they fall more or less in the genre of Pop/Pop Punk. Honestly Weezer should be in the Emo catagory. They were huge for Emo. I would say Saves the Day, Taking Back Sunday, Thursday, Emery, Chiodos, etc...would be good Emo examples.

Except you're not expressing your opinion in relevance to this post, or in the prior examples I quoted, those posts. Really, we don't care whether or not you think Harmonix is listening to us. If you're interested in this topic and thread, then by all means, participate. Otherwise, it's just a waste of everyone's time -- both yours, mine, and everyone else who takes a moment or more to read your unintelligent, whiny, obnoxious trolling drivel.

Lemme see...
- ALTERNATIVE (ex. Radiohead, Smashing Pumpkins, Weezer)
--Interesting guitar tracks, some basic or complex drum tracks, usually meh basslines
- CLASSIC ROCK (ex. Boston, Grateful Dead, Rolling Stones)
--Memorable Guitar Tracks, Interesting Basslines, basic or sem-complex drum tracks
- EMO (ex. 30 Seconds To Mars, All-American Rejects, Fall Out Boy)
--Catchy, usually fun on drums. Usually repetitive guitar tracks though.
-GLAM (ex. David Bowie, Sweet, T.Rex)
--Also catchty, can be fun and challenging on all instruments
- METAL (ex. Black Sabbath, The Haunted, Metallica)
--Sometimes godly hard on all instruments, usually easy vocals. Usually fun though.
- POP-ROCK (ex. The B-52s, OK Go, Paramore)
--See, Emo
- PROG (ex. Coheed & Cambria, Rush)
--Godly Guitar tracks, Very interesting basslines(Looking at Rush), best drum songs in the game (Looking at Rush)
- PUNK (ex. Blink-182, The Clash, The Ramones)
--See, Emo
- ROCK (ex. Bon Jovi, Foo Fighters, Oasis)
--Interesting guitar tracks, simple, or complex drumlines, meh basslines.

What, nobody wants Glam? That's what I voted - it's something which just isn't represented strongly enough. Of course, by glam I mostly mean more Bowie...
That said, I could do to see more from most every genre, with the exceptions of 'Emo' and Southern Rock. Neither really gets it done for me.

Even though I'm throughly for metal, I voted glam.
There are a ton of heavy weight bands from the glam era that arent in rockband that would be great...and even if...arguably...you say Judas Priest and David Bowie are glam...I would have to disagree with you.
Cinderella, Poison, Skid Row, The Cult, "argueably...Van Halen", twisted sister, Winger.
I know I'm missing some, but they would be awesome for Rockband.
I mean who do we have..Sweet, a Motley Crew song...Black Tide sorta sounds like glam but dont look it...
EDIT: forgot T.Rex my bad lol
I dont know I think its lacking
No matter how much I want Megadeth

Things aren't looking too good for my personal horse, Prog. :)

I voted Rock . . . but I can go alternative without a hitch ;)
Either would be good.
