What do you guys think so far?

I still haven't quite forgiven Bungie for the second one. I'm guessing the third instalment is the sequel that Halo 2 was supposed to be.

Have people always sucked this much online? When I played Halo 2 I always was given an old fashion rapin' but now I find people online aren't as hard as they used to be. Maybe It's just luck on my side. Online is great, not too far in story mode as of yet, but it's fun.

People just aren't used to it yet.

In a few months the community will be just like Halo 2, which is not really a good thing.

It's the best in it's genre. But it's not a game that is kind to the general audience. I personally suck at the game, therefore I can't get into it or enjoy it.

I'm not a fan of FPS to begin with, so that's my first problem.

I just bought mine at GameStop a few minutes ago. Now it sits on my desk at work. Apparently a lot of people traded in Bioshock to get it, so if you haven't played that one, maybe you should pick it up first. That way, when you eventually buy Halo 3 and you get online, there's a small chance I'll be better than you and I'll have someone who I can actually kill.

It's just because everyone is starting out on level 1, including you. So in about another day or two, the men will be separated from the boys. Don't worry, you'll be back to getting pwnd in no time :D Me too...

I would have thought some people would have been used to it because of the beta. Then again the beta didn't have all the weapons and that was way back in the summer (at the beginning I think).

Haven't gone online yet. I actually have a test tomorrow and Thursday so I wont be playing for a bit. I did get a chance to play today however, and I am really happy with it. I like the new special abilities you can use like bubble grenades, invincibility etc...

The story is pretty cool, I didn't play through a lot of yet though, I played some single and some co-op with my friends. I am a little upset however that you can't play 4 player co-op on one system. I played a little multiplayer too, and I am enjoying it thoroughly. I think this will be the game that tides me over until Rock Band easy.

then play some match making

then mess with the films.

Beat it on normal. It was good, but I'm ready to jump into co-op and multiplayer now. The campaign still didn't feel quite as good as the first one, and maybe not even as good as the second. The gameplay, though, was better than 2. Of course, they also copped a LOT of the levels from the first one.

Anyone up for co-op tonight around 4:30 or 5 CST?

Haven't played the campain yet. Gonna tackle that later.

The Multiplayer is very intense. Its good to see that the SMG is almost obsolete. Bringing back the Assualt Rifle was a must.

Of course, all the diferences from Halo 2 and Halo 3 is apparant. Like switching weapons with RB (I sometimes still press x, and accidently unleashing a energy drain!!), and voice chat with hitting the dpad is kinda annoying. I'm gonna scotch tape that or something....

Having played it today (no it won't be on my GC wich is why I said played it and not bought or rented etc. GC seems to be broke anyway) it has the exact same problem as the first 2 Halo's. Not enough ammo/crappy weapon pick up system.

So my thought is: I think if I play something on easy and unload 2 full clips into a normal enemy they should die. Mr. Sledge Hammer seems to fix that problem and kill everything in one or two hits but that's what Smackdown is for. Did have a few amusing kills with it at least.

ok so i'm officially making this the official halo 3 thread

apparently this game sold well : http://www.gamespot.com/news/6179914.html?action=convert&om_clk=latestnews&tag=latestnews;title;0

even though halo 3 did sell staggering numbers, microsoft (or gamespot i can't tell) is obviously overhyping this. yes $170 million is a LOT of money but comparing it to movie sales is ridiculous. look at one of the comments on there which brings up a very good valid point: comparing halo 3 sales to spider-man 3's record is absurd. it costs $7-$10 to watch spiderman and it still made $150 while halo 3 costs anywhere from at least $60-$120. still i'll give this worthless game its props and hope that mgs4 demolishes this during its launch. also super mario bros 3 will be unbeaten for most games sold :p

Ugh tell me about it.. im restarting campaign and keep getting slaughtered by the 1st gravity hammer bastard because I have 7 brute shots, and zero ammo secondary. So... I basically can't kill him or any of the snipers at all because I have completely limited ammo and no range. Its pissing me off.

From the game book:

Spartans think of enemies as mobile weapons caches.

It's the same as all the other Halos, you have to be smart with which weapons you use and keep track of all your ammo. Use something like the covenant carbine for ranged attacks that first level, they're everywhere. The brute shot is pretty limited, due to barely finding any ammo for it and the brutes having too good of armor. Just go for heat shots with the carbine (from distance) or the battle rifle.

Also, gravity hammer is an awesome weapon. It's not as delicate as the gravity gun in Halflife 2, but it sure is fun watching a group of enemies go flying 20 feet into the air :D

FallenAce
09-27-2007, 12:48 AM
I love the Gravity Hammer, but we don't call it that. In my circle, it is known as "The Warhammer of Justice". So, if you ever play and a guy grabs the hammer, and in smashing exclaims something akin to, "Prepare to be smashed by sweet JUSTICE!" then I probably know the guy... or it's me...

Went and picked up the game yesterday. Am currently on the fourth mission on "Heroic" difficulty. My thoughts so far:

It feels like the game that Halo 2 was supposed to be. The assault rifle from Halo 1 is back (Halo 2 mistake number 1), the flashlight is no longer broken (Halo 2 misstep number 2), no cheesy 80's guitar solo for the intro (Bungie, what were you thinking?) and (so far) I haven't noticed any crappy licenced music (Bad Bungie! Bad!).

As for the game itself: so far, so good. :D

Not too bad. Picked it up on release day, not expecting much (Halo:CE was awesome as all hell, but Halo 2 kinda failed...) and I'm having fun. Campaign was actually good (Instead of Arbiter missions being shoved down your throat, he's instead just player 2 in co-op) no licensed music (:D) Online is still the no-skill required, just plain fun experience (Plus customizable armor, my Spartan has a motorcycle helmet. :D) Also, the Forge, great addition. 8.9/10

EDIT: My 100th post was a Halo review. :P

I was always surprised why Halo never did something like Warhawk and sell a multiplayer only edition and knock 20 dollars or so off the price. I guess because they can get so many people to pay the extra 20 dollars and play through the campaign 1 or 2 times. I've never understood the Halo hype, but I'm not going to hate on it. I'm not a big FPS guy.

Let me take the liberty to do so then jq. I absolutely hate Halo with a passion. As alot of folks here, not a big FPS gamer. They all are alike. Just different mapping for the characters and different weapons.

So I would like to give you all the heads up on the spoof Halo 3 Trailer that I will be putting together. I will post the link once it is finished. I believe you all will be highly entertained. Well, everyone but the fanboys. :D

You know what game I hate? "King's Field" for Sony Playstation. Worst. Game. Ever. Worst anything ever, actually. Let me demonstrate with what my friends and I call the "Hamburger Hypothesis":

Let's say you are eating a hamburger. This is the most terrible-tasting crap you've ever had. You're pretty sure it's a bloated raccoon someone found in lake Eerie between two pieces of foam, with a slice of cheese that was not originally meant to be cheese. You'd say, "This is the <I>second</I>-worst hamburger <B>ever</B>, next to 'King's Field' for Sony Playstation."

See, the game is so bad, it actually <I>transcends</I> it's solely-video game status. It actually overtakes the worst anything ever, making the worst of anything only really the second worst, next to, of course, "King's Field" for Sony Playstation.

Did I mention? They made four follow-ups and a spin-off game.

I started on Heroic, and plan on doing Legendary next and try to find all the skulls and between class and homework and playing online, I believe I'm on the last chapter of the game. It is really hard to put down. I really love it, and I'm determined to unlock all the armor pieces I can for my character. This game is easily going to last me until Rock Band, I actually don't know how I'm going to have time for both games come November!

Beat it today. I'm not going to spoil it for anyone. I wasn't terribly happy with the ending. Although it was fun to play. I wish there were more boss battles in this game though, and I wish they were tougher/more clever, I hate all the straightforward shooting that always happens for the few "bosses" in the game.

Now I have to beat it on Legendary to get those achievement points and I hear there is a bit of an alternate or extended ending which I'm looking forward to. Heroic was really easy, a lot easier than I thought it would be.

Skulls can be turned on individually. You need to enable scoring for them to be active, though. Hit 'X' in the lobby to bring up the menu.

And yes, the post-credits ending is different on Legendary ;)
