View Full Version : National Launch Concert Possible Performer?

In the absence of solid news, we are of course left with wild and rampant speculation.
TOOL just recently wrapped up their major, worldwide tour for promoting 10,000 days. Then, today, this popped up on their website:
"Although no dates are officially confirmed at this point, it appears that TOOL will be touring the WEST COAST of the USA from mid-NOVEMBER until X-MAS. As soon as these shows are confirmed, I will post the dates and venues on the websites."
Kind of a small window of time and very limited region, which I found kind of odd. Now, as part of the Rock Band tour schedule I found this:
"November 18, 2007
Los Angeles, CA
Sunset Strip - House of Blues
TBD
NATIONAL LAUNCH EVENT"
All 100% speculation of course, but I'm thinking this at least deserves keeping an eye on...
Note: I orginally posted this in the big Tool thread on the Ultimate Set List forum, but I don't think anyone really checks that anymore except for the Tool faithful, and since this could relate to the Rock Band launch, I went ahead and posted it here. If it should be moved back over, please do so...

Until we got further info, this is completely unrelated to Rock Band.
However, with the rampant desire from us for them to appear I would not be surprised.

haha I'd DRIVE from So Arizona to freakin LA if that were the case!:)
I haven't seem them live since 10,000 days released so good to hear they're gonna be on the west coast...

Yah, I agree that it's a miniscule link between the two at best. Anyone know any other bands that are scheduled to be in that area around that time? I mean, it's a Launch Concert put on by MTV...it's gonna be headlined by someone big, right? And as TOOL's site showed, bands usually do give some sort of heads-up about where they're gonna be ahead of time...so what other bands are slated to be out on the West Coast in mid-to-late November? If anyone finds any, please post so we can discuss...

I heard it's Diddy, and he's bringing the Making the Band band, backed by the Band in a Bubble. The opening act is supposed a reunion of the made-for-made-for-MTV-movie band 2gether, and every season's members of the Surreal Life are acting as the street team.

I would MUCH rather have Enya. Not even really kidding at all.

i think you should have waited to see a better link before posting something like this.
maybe evidence that they will be playing in the actual city or vicinity near the date, rather than just "west coast" maybe some bands will post up a concert for that date at the house of blues...so people keep your eyes peeled!

Well, it's the best I had. And while admit to harboring an EXTREMELY strong desire for some sort of Rock Band/Tool linkage, the real purpose of this thread is to get people to do just as you said, keep their eyes peeled for bands that mention something about being in LA around the time of this launch concert. They got to be getting these kind of things lined up by now I'd assume.

Or Enya! Don't forget Enya. They'll probably just make a seperate game for her though, as a sub game in it you can make up your own alien language (which she did recently)

Hmm...yah, not very likely. Oh well, a boy can dream, yes? Thanks for the update...
Anyone else looking around for bands who might be in LA around the time they've got this thing scheduled? Or does no one care to play interweb detective...

From what I gathered from talking with one of the guys on the Tour, most of the people at Harmonix aren't even sure who's playing yet. The guy that was introducing the bands and talking at one point mentioned that the winner would be opening up for a major band like AC/DC.
Needless to say John nearly had heart failure, since the guy with the mic doesn't actually work for Harmonix and was just kind of making things up as he went. So don't be surprised if we get a few people that think AC/DC will be the big act.

I'm curious where Bruce and the E Street Band are going to be tourwise around late Nov-- seeing as how Little Stevie is a founding member of MTV's Rock Advisory Board for RB.
Just a thought.
tril
Well, what do you know-- apparently they're going to be in Boston on 11/18 and 11/19.

Hey if Cheney can lead the vice-president candidate review board and end up choosing himself i think that sets a nice precedent for Little Stevie....seriously though I've been thinking that we should expect some Springsteen given the connection here and you just may be on to something...............eyes black helicoptor hovering outside place of work...uh oh gotta go
