Got the Nov. EGM (Saint's Row 2 on the cover), and contrary to EGM's pronouncement last issue, there's no big announcement re: Rock Band.
In fact, there's only a few brief mentions at all. In a section called "50 Things You Didn't Know", there's 4 minor tidbits, I think the last 2 are common knowledge among those here.
"1. Assembly Required
Rock Band's sturdy drum kit (which should cost around $80) comes in 5 pieces but assembles in less than 5 minutes. You'll need to provide your own throne, though.
2. The Missing Ink
The game will have a tattoo shop where you can spend money earned from road gigs to decorate your custom rock star. Even sweeter: The shop will showcase tattoos from real-life parlors and artists.
3. Hand Solo
You can play entire songs on the tiny made-for-solos buttons at the base of the Fender-licensed Stratocaster peripheral... as long as you don't mind looking ridiculous.
4. More Cowbell
Not only can your singer tap the microphone for tambourine sounds - it also doubles as a cowbell in Blue Oyster Cult's "(Don't Fear) The Reaper." Singer/guitarists who have their hands full with the ax can just shout "pow" into the mic to trigger tambourine and cowbell."
So... yeah. Also they claim next issue they'll review both GH3 and Rock Band. I guess they're getting an early copy.

GH III has already been reviewed by Game Informer, I guess EGM just wanted to stall until they could play both. I hope the drum isn't too flimsy.

Is it mandatory that you hit the mic? I don't want to break it.

If that was their "big" news I'm severely disappointed. I was hoping for something actual good, instead of useless info and stuff we basically already knew. Hopefully some other news comes out during the next week or so, I'm getting restless.

Correct, other games.
1 of the other 46 things is also a mention of GH 3. EGM also refers to GH3 as Rock Band's "arch nemesis", but their coverage generally seems to favor Rock Band. :)

No surprise there after Activision refused to allow them to preview the game if they compared it to Rock Band. Asshats.
