I have never used my xbox headset yet, so I wasn't sure how it worked. (I bought the xbox for guitar heroII). So I broke it our of it's packaging and saw that it just looks like any regular 2.5mm headset you can pick up at radioshack.
SOOOO, I was curious if anyone tried to pop an adapter onto their Shure mics to see if they are usable on the xbox. I plug my SM58 into my stereo or computer all the time to sing along right now anyway and I would much rather use that than the $30 one that comes with the game.
Also with the support of any USB mic, I assume that means xbox360 supported USB mic. I can't slap my USB Shure mic ono it... could i?
(Oh a quick unrelated note about USB hubs... I have been using one now for a while for guitar hero 2. I needed to extend my wires so I plugged in a usb hub aith a 10 foot cord and then plug my 2 xplorers into it. I never have a problem)

I know that Rock Band should be compatible with most USB microphones, I don't know about others, I personally have yet to use my 360 headset so I'm not sure if it would work or not. The best thing to do is just test it out and see.

Don't be a dick if someone misspells something, especially if they spell it right. That's just rude.

Yeah, really man. Unless you're joking with someone for misspelling a word.

Thanks for the backup.. I don't usually get a chance to defend myself while working and taking care of my two kids.
I think he set himself up anyway not knowing who shure is. :)

I guess the moral of the story is never correct anyone unless you're shure you're right!

It ought to work*. We haven't tested every possible USB microphone out there, but every one we've thrown at it has worked so far*.
*If it doesn't work, it's not my fault.

AKA, if it follows USB audio standards, you're golden. Otherwise it's the HW manufacturer's fault.

Have I ever told you Harmonix people that you rock? You have single handedly made me buy an xbox 360, two guitar hero games (I needed two x-plorers) and preorder another $300 stuff for rockband. Now that I think about it, you also made me broke...
I have a glimmer of hope that can use my own mics! Wow. Now I'm really thinking. MAYBE I put two or three mics into my mixer first, then into the headset jack! Problem solved for multiple mics! I will have to check my xbox warranty first I guess! Worst case I blow up my controller or it doesn't work. :)
Come on Chris, you look like the type that would try that out and let me know how it works!

Hell, yeah! There are a couple of songs I want to try with multiple vocalists. Gimme Shelter has to have a dude and a lady. I will be all over this!

I'm assuming you mean on the same mike? Have they confirmed the ability to have two singers?

He means 2 mics going to one audio stream. That way two vocalists can swap singing the vocals part (like male and female part) without having to swap mics. In other words, use two mics like two people in one mic.

Have you tried the Singstar mics? I assume they would work, But they are 1/8 mono which plug into a dual usb adaptor.. So it is a little iffy if the current hardware will reckonize them.
Either way, it doesn't matter to me. I'll get the whole bundle anyway and I got a Kareoke Revolution Logitech mic as well. So I'm all set no matter what.
