That's a matter of opinion.. i think the set list is rather good.. and i'm also thinking of the bigger picture in regards to DLC.

I much much prefer teh setlist for Rock Band, much more songs that I'm familiar with and bands that I like. In the first two guitar hero games there was maybe 7 songs I knew and only a few that I really really liked, whereas with Rock Band I had maybe 20 of the songs on my iTunes already and loads of bands I love in it. I'm not really into metal or heavy rock as much as plain old rock, so that's why I prefer the Rock Band setlist. I still enjoy playing the Guitar Hero games but I know I'm going to get much more of a kick out of Rock Band because there's so many songs I love on it.

All a matter of taste I suppose. We should just be happy we have the choice. I think both games can co-exist quite nicely because both setlists are pretty different style wise and when it comes to the DLC you can pretty much make it whatever game you want to be.

Rock Band's set list may be a bit disapointing, but DLC, man! DLC! Something I did like about GH was discovering new music, but I know all the songs in Rock Band. Now, is that bad? I sing a couple of these songs a cap ala, so when it's with music I won't feel so weird.

why don't you wait until the full complete set lists are revleaed to draw your conclusions.

I already think it's on par with GH. and there are still a bunch of songs left.

This thread fails.

As long as RB doesn't have Dragonforce, I think RB wins.

Oh, and RB has Bang Camaro, Vagiant, etc...

Wow, it's a good thing you're not in charge of running award ceremonies. If you think Rock Band has the worst setlist ever, you are seriously mistaken. Have you ever played a Karaoke Revolution, Guitar Freaks, DDR, Donkey Konga, Taiko Drum Master or Beatmania game? =(

I don't know whether I prefer GH3's setlist or RB's setlist, but they're not far enough apart for one to be the worst ever and the other to be the best ever.

You're entitled to your opinion. By posting this on the Rock Band forum you clearly only want to start a big argument. You probably should have not posted this at all.

Also there is no way Rock Band has a bad setlist. There is not one song on it that I don't like personally, and with all the DLC there is no way you could hate it.

I like them both, GHIII's set list a bit more. I'm getting both GHIII and RB anyways, so it doesn't matter much to me.

under what criteria? Best use of instruments? best selling artists? Best critically acclaimed artists? Try harder when trolling please.

Ahh...Taiko Drum Master. Shortly after discovering the joys of the Guitar Hero games, I bought this. I believe it's the only game I've ever actually thrown in the garbage.

Indeed, it is a blatant attempt at trolling. Hopefully this thread will therefore be locked shortly, and in the meantime, the best solution is to ignore him.

Rock Band is shaping up to be the best soundtrack I've ever seen for a music game. I feel sorry for anyone who doesn't appreciate it.

Good idea, bad execution.. it was far too hard for the game to discern left and right as well as side from center... decent game once you got the hang of it but it still called misses in spots where there were definitely not misses. 2 player was pretty fun too. I played it for about 1 week and then never again.

aaah, I remember my first beer.

Seriously though, you're quite clearly looking for attention. Coming from the UK as I do, if I had a choice of GH3 and RB being delayed in Europe, I'd have taken GH3. GH3 is good, but I'm looking forward to RB more.

I have no problem with people expressing their opinions. I myself have my own concerns/reservations about the setlist. (For example, I fear it may not have a sufficient difficulty level to challenge expert-caliber players)

However, I do have a problem with posts that are intentionally voiced in a way which is inflamatory or argumentative. This type of posting behavior only encourages negative board behavior and breeds malcontent among board members.

If the OP dislikes the game as stated, why bother taking the time to register here and post about it? And if they do want to see the setlist improved, why not post some suggestions in the setlist forum, instead of posting a generic "this sucks" attack?

Kind Regards.

Though I understand Apples concerns about this post (and agree that the point was to be inflammatory and disruptive) I also fully believe people should be able to express their opinions about this game. I have moved the thread to Ultimate Setlist and if it gets out of hand will be fine to relock.

Guitar Hero III's setlist has a lot of awful choices.

Sunshine of Your Love, for instance, has a grand total of three four-second riffs and a solo.

And while Creep and Enter Sandman are some of the most over-rated songs their bands have to offer, they're no Miss Murder.

yeah sorry for pissing all u off, now that i think of it, comparing GH2 and GH setlist to this one...this one is better...the songs i might not like but the way they are playable with all instruments is always a plus, and they sound pretty good.

but yeah its an okay setlist, just i think gh has a good setlist, i like some songs on rockband...2 or 3 but if DL content is as good as people say, then great, cause i know GH has crap DLC with overpriced songs

Guitar Hero III has AFI, Matchbook Romance, slipkot, disturbed, the Killers and Sonic youth. Those are the 5 worst bands to be featured in any guitar hero game so far. No other GH bands even come close to the suckitude that is AFI, Matchbook Romance, slipkot, disturbed and the Killers.

Meow. The Rock Band soundtrack is amazing, and I love it, and it's the best thing ever. I listen at least a handful of RB songs daily, and they're amazing. Harmonix has turned me on to so many new artists. I have faith! I truly dislike no songs on the list so far, and GH3 has, truthfully, a handful of songs that I did not like after hearing. So hah!

Rev0lver
09-26-2007, 09:20 AM
to be honest, i agree with this guy, at this point in time. but don't take that out of context. i like the announced gh3 songs ALOT more than the RB songs at this point. but, if harmonix keeps their DLC promises, RB will make gh3 look like the newest superman game.
