Heh...just for the game though, the individual instruments are still nov 20. Now I think the various date changes on retail sites are just them screwing with us.

Thats really weird, there is no way it will come out August of next year. I don't understand why they have to constantly change release dates on us...especially when nothing has been confirmed. I wouldn't be worried about this.

Eman311

I'm not worried it's just a dumb move that makes absolutely no sense.

You guys didn't hear? They decided to delay it to add "Roadie Mode" and "Coke Binge".

Coke binge allows you to do lines, but you ahve to maintain the rhythm of your heart or your game gets erased and it's all over.

There is also talk of a secret 'Yoko Ono Destroys Your Band" end boss.

This makes no sense at all. Amazon has the individual instruments, with no game, available in November, but the game, and the special edition packages, available in August. I wonder what the true story is. Will someone official please address the conflicting dates.

Actually, this makes perfect sense. There are those who keep posting the various release dates from these stores and stressing about it, and there are those of us who keep pointing out again and again how moot it is. These dates mean nothing. They can change it to Jully 17th, 2013, the same day that the scorpian people emerge from the ocean to dominate the human race. It'll be just as reliable.

HMX has not announced a release date. All dates posted anywhere are speculation. This particular date sounds like speculation with a side order of typo, but still equally useless informaiton.

Holy **** there's scorpion people living in the ocean?

Edit: Might just be in EU and AU though, this is what wiki says http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rock_Band_(video_game) That says early 08... Last time I checked August isn't early in the year...

I read an article about this earlier in the day.

We got on the phone with Reverb Communications, Inc., the PR firm handling Rockband, who dispelled any rumors regarding this internal malfunction from Amazon.com. Tracie Snitker, VP of Public Relations for Reverb, explained that there is in fact no delay on the release date for Rockband. She added there would be an announcement made later this week on the exact release date, which is still on track for November 2007.

Sorry if this was posted already. Two days and counting until a release date announcement.

Hey, here's a novel concept.

What if someone was keying it in and they have some application that autofills the year (like Excel would do)?

Punch in 08/11 and it autofills to the next August 11th, which would be in 2008.

If you had someone from, say, Europe enter the date, they'd enter it as Day/Month/Year instead of Month/Day/Year as we would in North America.

So, what if it was supposed to be 11/08, as in November 8th of this year?

They'd key it in as 08/11, and... voila.

:)

Yes, but if people didn't pay attention to rumors, they wouldn't have anything to whine and get their panties in a bundle about. Just remember, release is still November: nothing has changed unless you've convinced yourself it has. Just stop caring, and you won't get frustrated.

New here, just a quick question:

Anyone here who got hit with the new ship date for Rock Band figure out how to get it set back to the old one? Right now, I see that the products themselves are back to saying they'll ship on 11/20/07, but if I go into my order status, it still says it will ship on 8/11/08 and wants me to approve that new ship date. I finally got a response from Amazon's support, but all they told me was the reason it hasn't shipped yet is that it hasn't been released yet, which doesn't really help me.

Anyone have any insight on how to get the actual order fixed? Thanks!

ValenciaJoe
09-27-2007, 06:13 AM
I wouldn't worry about it (I am in the same boat... I preordered it in August, got the email about the delay yesterday... etc.). I see that they (Amazon) corrected the mistake in their system, although the ship dates within someone's account has not changed. You will get it shipped when the product is released. I just think it is a computer glitch (perhaps the same one that caused the issue yesterday) that is causing the problem. Amazon knows that you and I preordered the item and will get it when it is released.

sporkBrigade
09-27-2007, 06:44 AM
You know, if I was one of you Amazon preorders, I'd confirm the new date. Even if they fix the date, your order might get automatically cancled if you don't do the confirmaiton thingy. I'm in no way sure about that, but if I was in that boat, that's what I'd do. If they fix it, it's not like they're going to actually wait until August next year to ship it, so confirming it won't hurt anything.

Be careful about associating yourself with the Scorpion people. Come 2017, it might not seem so funny. :(

I agree with spork. I had forgotten to mention that when I received the email from Amazon regarding the delay, I did update my order to accept the new delivery date. It does state in the email that if you don't agree with the change in date, your order will get cancelled. So, do agree with the change as not to screw things up on your order.

I just got a response from Amazon after letting them know the initial response didn't really clear up my question. To quote part (with things like order #'s removed):

I see that the estimated shipping and estimated delivery date listed on this order are wrong, please note this order is estimated to ship on November 20, 2007...although these dates are not listed in your order details page I can assure you that item will ship out of our fulfillment center on November 20, 2007.

Please understand that due to a technical glitch the estimated shipping and estimated delivery date are reflecting incorrectly and we will not be able to change those dates.

So you guys were right, but I figured I'd post official confirmation just in case anyone else is concerned :D

This was just posted by Joystiq:

Hopefully, this is real information and not more guessing on Amazon's part.

Earlier this week Amazon.com dropped the ball and freaked a lot of pre-order customers out by sending emails saying Rock Band was delayed until 2008 -- it wasn't true. Interestingly, in their "oops" letter today to those same pre-order customers Amazon says: "'Rock Band Special Edition' [Video Game], Estimated arrival date: 11/27/2007 - 11/29/2007."

The person we received this info from uses Amazon Prime, which gives faster shipping on items, so those dates should be the week of release. Of course, Amazon already screwed up the year this week, so what's another week? Most guesstimates have had the release the week of Nov. 20. The official Rock Band release announcement is expected next week. Still no word yet on official peripheral pricing though.

Interesting, I got the oops email *after* approving the 08/11/2008 date, but mine says it'll be delivered on 11/21/07. For the record, I've also got Amazon Prime and I sprung for the extra $4 to make it one-day shipping instead of the standard two-day. What's $4 when you're already spending $200?

Hello from Amazon.com.

We are writing about the order you placed on July 24 2007 08:55 PDT

the 27th date is probably the free shipping eta (maybe they estimate a week for arrival?)
the 21st sounds right for a 20th release date since the person chose expedited shipping (so one day eta).
