Is Muse one of those bands that sort of has to "grow" on you? I mean, I've listened to several of their songs and they seem just okay to me. Do they make the type of music that it takes a while to get used to, or do people either like them or hate them right away?

it took a bit of listening and seeing them live to really sell me, but now they're one of my favorite bands.

Just a personal taste of music really. Although I have to say I love them.

It took some time until I really liked Muse. I mean, I always thought they are "okay" but now I really like them. Not my favourite band, but I really love some of their songs.

But I also know people, although they are big Alternative/Indie fans, they just can't listen to Muse because they don't like how Bellamy sings. I can understand that somehow, it also took me some time to get used to his singing style.

It's one of those band. Their music is pretty diffrent from other bands and it might take some time to 'get' their music.
I took me some time to get into them, and look at me now :)

I think for me, the hardest thing to get used to is his voice...which is usually what I notice first in music. He's obviously a great singer, but a little high for what I like to listen to I think.

They grew on me.

It takes a while to adjust to the octave he sings in. It's true. Not everyone does get past it.

Coming from the Radiohead fan?:p

Nah, I love Thom too. Matt's voice is stunning, don't see why some people don't like it?

I always thought Muse sounds like what Radiohead could have evolved into had they not made the more experimental "OK Computer". Had they stayed the course and been more edgy, melodic and had Jonny not gotten as experimental with his guitar work, I think they could have evolved into Muse.

Try some of Muse's more mainstream stuff if you want a good introduction ("Starlight", "Bliss", "Plug-In Baby", "Time Is Running Out"), then go from there.
