Very recently more and more threads, particuarly in the Rock Band section, are being locked due to repeat questions. I like this - just seeing what you think of it.

i like this and hopefully they start locking other threads that all have to do with one thing

Meh i can't vote for either choice because what if is someguy's first thread first post and he is just curious cant be mean to him/her but if its some member's 50 something post then yeah tell him off.

Well thats siding with the noobs, so you'd be second option.

Meh. Should be like the Valve forums, you must search for the topic first before posting. *laugh*

I'll offer the simplest explanation I can think of. More users are hopping on the Rock Bandwagon every day, leading to more postings, leading to a larger quantity of moderation required.
Let me first say that I take any locking/moving of posts very seriously. The absolute last thing I want to do is to abuse moderation and offend the sensibilities of Harmonix staff. I mod posts to try and help out the community discussion... not because I want to shanghai the boards with an iron fist.
I've gotten a couple private messages from posters inquiring why their discussion was closed. Thus far, I have been able to explain the action to the poster's satifaction. In fact, I've even received PM's from various users requesting more locks than I would normally dish out.
I would just implore people to please have a little patience with new/duplicate posters. Rock Band is all about group and community play, and we are all served by having as large and vibrant a community as possible. The new members that join today will be our veteran band mates tomorrow. We were all new once, and have all made our share of rookie mistakes (myself especially! :) ) The next time you decide to pile on a newbie member, consider just hitting the back button and moving on to the next post instead.

ok understood but how about the duplicate threads about like one band and ****?? i can understand leaving duplicate threads open about gameplay or other game announcements, but having like 10 muse threads is just absurd

But Muse rocks... They deserve those threads. You can control girls by merely having them listen to Supermassive Black Hole... Seriously, the ladies love that song.
NOTE: "control"="take them out to a lovely steak dinner"
