The Priest pack wasn't really released all that long ago, so I don't think we're going to be getting any more metal quite yet. I'm thinking either the Cars album or some kind of pack with the two Rolling Stones songs we know about, since we haven't had any recent classic rock (even the classic rock pack wasn't a very good representation of classic rock outside of Skynyrd) in a while. Maybe those two songs and Pinball Wizard.

It would be kinda pushing it to release multiple full album downloads a month, but it could be done. You had to go and mention the one thing I'd like to see more than Who's Next. Dire Straits are like gods among men.

That said, yeah, I can't deny the DLC has been disappointing of late. Here's hoping this announcement breaks that trend.

Don't know if this has been said before but does anyone know when "The Cars" was originally released.. It will be the 30th anniversary one of these next 3 weeks. It came out in May 1978 yet I cant find the exact date.

You have to believe if Harmonix already stated it would come out this month and just happens to coincide with a major anniversary, it will come out when it was released in 1978.

Find out that and you have probly found out one of the weeks.

My guess is that the Cars will be next week. If they want to do one albuma month, it would make sense to space it 4 weeks from the previous album, and that would place the Car next week. If they skip the Cars this week and next, that leaves only one tuesday left in May, and they already announced it for May, and HMX doesn't usually leave things that easy to figure out. Of course, they are not committed to that promise of releasing The Cars in May, or even any album, so they wouldn't be trapped.

I'm not sure what's going to drop next. 60's/70's are due (60's more than 70's), as is Blues. And Goth is one of the four styles you can design your character as, and there is not one Goth song, in-game or DLC (unless you lump NIN in with Goth, which is fair, I guess). I'm not a fan or hater of Goth music, but some New Order, Joy Division, Smiths, Cure or Depeche Mode songs that are both upbeat and had crossover appeal would kick ass. Who wouldn't want to play How Soon Is Now? Fun and relatively challenging for all instruments, great hook, almost 7 minutes with a great jam, and almost everyone knows it.

Anyway, it's all just silly speculation.

If this week isn't The Cars (which I'm really looking forward to), I'd like to see either some 90s alternative (we don't have nearly enough from the best decade for music), or some popular modern indie. I'm sick of hearing people say this game has too much indie music because of the bonus tracks. Nobody's heard of those bands because for the most part they're just local bands that suck. The only actual indie rock band in the game is The New Pornographers, and that doesn't represent the genre well. I'd like to see some Spoon, Decemberists, Interpol, Modest Mouse, Of Montreal, Ween, or Belle & Sebastian.

Now that I've listened to them, I must agree. And now that I know the band isn't all about repeating the same lyric over and over, I think I could live with more Angels & Airwaves.

Though I'd really like some more straight blues songs in the vein of "I Need A Miracle". Ooh, or more Garbage. My friend wondered last night why "Cherry Lips (Go Baby Go) (http://youtube.com/watch?v=-XToqJPBbLA)" wasn't in the game yet. More Paramore would also be pretty cool, especially "Fences (http://youtube.com/watch?v=4J312COnxh8)" to give the bassist a workout. And hell, round out the girl singer pack with "Queen of Apology (http://youtube.com/watch?v=kNxDhpD7tg0)" by the Sounds.

Either way, no matter what it is, there's going to be complaints. It'd be awesome if it was a release so many people were looking forward to that it ended up like the Boston 6-pack week (probably the week with the least amount of complaints so far!) but I kinda doubt it. Even if it's something like Nevermind or Who's Next, which have a lot of people anticipating it, there will still be whiners. For Who's Next it'll be "there isn't enough new music! Classic rock sucks!" and for Nevermind it'll be "Nirvana sucks! Where's Metallica?"

Are you being sarcastic? Cause if that was a fakepost then you need to open your eyes. People aren't ungrateful jerks who just hate everything. If you noticed the weeks where they released truly good stuff the *****ing was very minimal(of course there is always someone somewhere that doesn't like something).

The truth is that it has been a lot of crap with sprinklings of good stuff. Even when they bust out the good artists they sometimes go with lesser known songs from them which just boggles my mind.

Bottom line...this is a party game. It's not "obscure song or well known band but obscure song game". Releasing songs that will only be loved by real hardcore music fans makes sure that the game will not get as much rotation at parties because too many people won't know the songs and it will get boring quickly(actually it does, i have brought my 360 and rock band to a few parties with much excitement only to find the game running out of steam after about 2 hours because people were not familiar with a lot of the songs).

I don't know if it costs more to license "the hits" but I will gladly pay a little more if that means we get good stuff for a few weeks.

Bottom line...this is a party game. It's not "obscure song or well known band but obscure song game". Releasing songs that will only be loved by real hardcore music fans makes sure that the game will not get as much rotation at parties because too many people won't know the songs and it will get boring quickly(actually it does, i have brought my 360 and rock band to a few parties with much excitement only to find the game running out of steam after about 2 hours because people were not familiar with a lot of the songs).

I don't know if it costs more to license "the hits" but I will gladly pay a little more if that means we get good stuff for a few weeks.

It seems like they balance it out pretty well. I'd say the last pack we got that didn't have any big hits was the NIN pack. I like that they keep it a mix of well known and lesser known songs, for the fans.

I, too, think it might be a grunge pack. When was the last time we got 3 grunge songs (from 3 different bands)? Never. A LOT of peeps want more stuff from the 90's (myself included), and there are bands from the disc that only have one song so far.

So here is my guess:

I realize that you can't predict what HMX is going to put out for DLC. I don't care. I still have fun speculating what it will be, even though it's never what I expect it to be.

Maybe those cats meant the song "Katmandu". It probably wouldn't be the Cat Stevens version, as most of his hits wouldn't include all of the instruments in Rock Band. Bob Seger also has a hit song with that title, as well as plenty of other playable songs for the game.

Anything by the Clash is great news.

Although Train in Vain is a great song I would still chooser Rock The Casbah and London's Calling ahead of them....but all things considered? HUGE WIN.

Blondie? I actually consider that one of the more annoying songs of theirs. Not sure why that song versus 10 others of hers that people are more familiar with. They were huge in England (where I grew up) so I know pretty much their whole catalog.

Sonic Youth - I'm not a deliberate fan of theirs so I'll have to defer to others who know better.

Train in Vain = excellent. More Clash is always welcome, particularly when it honks off the mullet-wearing crowd.

Hanging on the Telephone = interesting. Not a Blondie song I knew. Doesn't sound like it'll be one of the harder ones to play, but I said that about Call Me, and holy crap the drumbeat on that one, so I'll reserve judgment.

Kool Thing = finally, and a new and welcome band in the game. Hopefully there'll be more Sonic Youth in the future, though I'm sure people will ***** and whine about it being noise.

Now cue endless *****ing from the usual metalheads.

(And please please please, Hx, make the Cars the next week's release, rather than the 27th. Give me Mem Day weekend to play that piece of beauty.)
