So far, we've just got Gimme Shelter and on that podcast, it was mentioned that most of the new songs are going to be current.

I really hope that's not the only one otherwise it seems like a waste to even include that decade...

just sayin'

The problem is there will likely not be a huge amount of decent masters remaining from that era - so it would be hard to get non-cover tracks from the 60s (unless the bands survive today and re-record some material).

Cream and the Beatles, hopefully. Maybe if we're lucky, a song from Led Zeppelin I or II

We definately need some more 60's to even up the setlist.

Here are some songs and bands that definately have a chance of making it into RB:

Steppenwolf - Magic Carpet Ride or Born To Be Wild
Cream - White Room
The Doors - Break On Through or Roadhouse Blues (These guys need to be in RB in some way or another)

Bands like The Velvet Underground, The Beatles, and Zeppelin are a little bit of a stretch, but I'd be ecstatic if they're included in the game. I can definately see some Stooges in RB too.

I'm happy that Greatful Dead is in as DLC, but that just doesn't cut it for me. We need more 60's bands, HMX!

If this is true, I'm going to be hugely dissapointed by Rock Band. Where was this said? Don't they have enough alternative? I mean, unless it's the Kaiser Chiefs, or other actually decent modern British bands, I will be very unhappy with the selection. There are so many classics they haven't even begun to cover, but instead we get layered with Grunge and Alternative.

I'm definitely looking for more 60s stuff to be included in the game

Yes please, and I could care less if it's covered or not due to indeed the possible lack of master tracks from the 60s. (if done correctly offcourse)

I'm in the boat with battle axe and grayinvisible. The setlist is loaded with newer songs. I like most of them, but it would be nice to see more stuff from the sixties and seventies, especially Steppenwolf and Zeppelin. We'll see soon enough.

I'm sure Harmonix wouldn't drop the ball and not have more songs from the 60's in the game.... right?

i would say that is such a copout if they claim theres no masters they can use. if the cheap cds i buy at sams club for 10 bucks can find and remaster digitally the best of every band from the 60s, ummmmm, HMX needs to make a phone call or two so they can go to samsclub and get the cds. it takes a little bit of skill and effort, but you CAN backwards engineer a multitrack master off a digital finished product.

60s bands that i have seen digitally remastered repeatedly since the 80s:

led zeppelin
the rolling stones
the beatles
cream
steppenwolf
jimi hendrix
mamas and the papas
frank zappa
grateful dead
the doors (the end would pwn!)
iron butterfly (cmon give us in a gadda da vida!! that percussion solo in there would make my O face show)
moody blues
and many more i havent recalled in the time it took to write this

so please dont TELL me that you cant find masters. i hate music from today, to me the death of good music was my senior year in high school driving home from a date when i heard nirvana's "smells like teen spirit". it was not nirvana really that killed it, but the ooodles of bands that came after it with no talent, lots of flanel, bad hygiene, and power chords....oh the power chords. NEED MORE CLASSIC ROCK, HMX!!!!

right, I really like the alternative rock and grunge scene, I like about 90 - 95% of the setlist so far, but how awesome would it be to rock out to "born to be wild" or almost any CCR song, or even to "house of the rising sun", come on harmonix, get the old shiz :)

tucsonovernite

probably selective attention but wow is Steppenwolf the most requested band and if so how ridiculous is that?!? No offense to Reaper you're just the last poster I've seen note that( I see a lot of House of the Rising Sun on these boards as well and MAN would that song suck...talk about repetitive. ) I guess i have nothing postive to add other than I would trade the cliched Born to be wild for some Hey Lawdy Mama any day....oh and yes we'll have some CCR though...

I'm a big classic rock guy and would love as many 60's and 70's tracks as possible but those 2 songs ...bleh

YES. Creedence Clearwater Revival = major pwn. Those guys need some more love, they're awesome.

the doors (the end would pwn!)

The Doors are cool, but they have no bass player. Then Again, I guess we could just pretend Ray Manzarek's left hand is a bass. And as far as something fun to play by the Doors, I'd go for their live cover of Bo Diddley's, "Who Do You Love?".

I'm sure HMX has their reasons for picking newer bands, but come on; I'm itchin' for some Woodstock.

ray's organ did serve as a bass though so yeah you shouldn't really count them out

Not that I dislike the older stuff, but I don't have a problem with mostly 90's and 00's. Most of the music I listen to are from those eras. Though I kinda agree that we could use some 60's and 70's.

A few 60's tracks would definitely be a nice addition to the tracklist (Hendrix, Doors, Jefferson Airplane, Steppenwolf, CCR, Cream), but on the flipside, I'd like to see some more recent music confirmed 100% for album DLC.

I'm really waiting for more 60's tracks in the disk itself. A game called "Rock Band" must have some Woodstock songs. Like Summertime Blues (http://www.dailymotion.com/relevance/search/woodstock+summertime/video/x2aotb_the-who-summertime-blues_music) or I'm Going Home (http://www.dailymotion.com/relevance/search/woodstock+home/video/x2ha2c_ten-years-after-woodstock_music).

I grew up listening to the oldies -- She'd Rather Be With Me, eh? Peculiar choice...nearly qualifies as a moldy oldie..

The Kinks would be great fun.

The Young Rascals - Good Lovin'
A song from The Stooges first album
A song from the first MC5 album
Velvet Underground
The Zombies
The Kinks

They have quite a few options.

MC5,Jefferson Airplane,Doors,Hendrix,Joplin, and Kinks would be good for the selist or DLC.

Early Stones, Zeppelin and Sabbath would be good for DLC too.
