ok ny ultimate rush setlist would be great.probably my fav song on it would be 2112, all 20 minutes.lol yeah it would bomb. i tried talking to harmonix sean but he didn't respond.lol yeah and then it would be yyz, omg, that would amazing on drums like the exit stage left version with the solo.lol
yeah then my last song would be red barchetta, the guitar solo and the drum part are awsome, if any of the developers read this just at least take this into consideration.please. well yeah thats it. so if they had 2112 on rb 2, that would be cool and i know its 20 min. but its awsome.so if you guys have any ?s or if you want to be my friend send me a request, please cause i have no friends.lol

OK, my ultimate Rush setlist would be great. Quite possibly my favourite song that I have chosen would be all 20 minutes of the song "2112". Haha, yes it would be awesome. I have tried talking to hmxsean, but he did not respond.
The next song I would include would be "YYZ". Oh my god, it would be amazing on drums, as would the solo from the "Exit Stage Left" live performance, haha.
Then the last song I would like to see is "Red Barchetta". The guitar solo and the drum patterns are awesome.
If any of the HMX developers read this thread, please take these songs into consideration.
So that's my setlist. If they could add 2112 on to Rock Band 2, I would be very happy. I realize the song is excessively long, but it is very awesome. So if anyone has any questions, or if you would like to be my friend, please send me a request. Unfortunately I have no friends, so please add me haha.
So now after making your post readable, I'll analyze your choices.
1. "2112" will never be on Rock Band. Ever. Too long. The only people that would even consider playing a song that long are the insane Rush fanatics, and the perfectionists that have to have every single DLC released.
It's the same way I could wish for "At War With Satan" by VENOM and never see it released. Most people will be bored and frustrated before the song is even half over.
20 minute songs are a no.
2. "YYZ" will also never see a Rock Band release. No Vocals.
3. "Red Barchetta" is a maybe. I personally would also like to see that song on Rock Band at some point.
4. I can understand why you have no friends.

I'd have to agree with DesuEX's response. I'd love to see 2112 in RB, but it is too long.
Here are some RUSH songs I'd like to see (or that could be selected)....
NEW WORLD MAN
SPIRIT OF RADIO
CLOSER TO THE HEART
ONE LITTLE VICTORY
FLY BY NIGHT
RED BARCHETTA - I think this song would be a great choice for RB
WHAT YOU'RE DOING
IN THE MOOD
DISTANT EARLY WARNING
STICK IT OUT
FREEWILL
THE BIG MONEY
FAR CRY
THE TREES
ANTHEM
BASTILLE DAY
ROLL THE BONES
BEST I CAN
A PASSAGE TO BANGKOK
SHOW DON'T TELL
FORCE TEN
TEST FOR ECHO
THE ENEMY WITHIN
KID GLOVES
TIME STAND STILL
Most of these songs should also have enough appeal to the average RB player to let them enjoy them too.

I think it would be cool to have longer songs in RB, though not to many and anything over 8 minutes would probably be a big much. 2112, In A Gadda Da Vida, American Pie, Shine On You Crazy Diamond, The Revealing Science of God (Dance of the Dawn) is like 20 minutes long, Station to Station, The End, and Alice's Restaurant (personal favorite because of how stupid it is) would all be fun songs to somebody... once. but who would want to go through that twice? :p
Oh, how about that long awful song about the boat sinking... Gordon Lightfoot's "The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald". The song is actually longer than it took for that stupid boat to sink

If length is the concern, they could easily get around that by presenting it in the format that Rush themselves sometimes plays live, that being just the "Overture" and "Temples of Syrinx" portions of the song.
Doing that, you'd likely have something that clocks in somewhere just under 7 minutes.

Let's just pretend you have 29 fingers. Cut off the 10 on the hands you used to type this thread. ...You still have 19, right?

not a bad thought. even a basic "edited for radio" type version would probably do the trick. "Light my Fire" on The Doors debut album is about 7 minutes long, but the radio version is under 3.... it could work.

As much as I would love to see 2112 in a game, its a bit too much. If they cut it down to Overture and Temples of Cyrinx that could work but its like a third of the song. I'd much prefer to see a master of the Spirit of Radio.

2112 should be the final song on rock band 2, and they should make it's difficulty on par with through the fire and flames in GH3
