View Full Version : Question surrounding DLC

I've seen a lot of members on here saying that Sonic Youth, Blondie, Boston, Grateful Dead, etc...have been requested so most should be happy. That would mean that HMX is listening to and following these boards and my congrats go out to thise that got what they wanted.

So my question is this, where is Tool, AC/DC, Ozzy, Muse, Led Zepplin, Alice in Chains, Guns n Roses, Pink Floyd, The Beatles, (more) Metallica, Pearl Jam, The Offspring, Bush, Megadeath, Live, Foo Fighters, etc.... that I have seen requested over and over again on other boards and articles.

....and don't say cost is to steep. HMX has generated more revenue and margin than I think they even thought possible with RB. Will they re-invest some to keep the game going strong? I'm not whining at all, just asking an honest question. This is seriously the only forum that I see positive comments regarding what's going on as of late. Just curious what lies ahead for the game.

Probably lisencing troubles, doesn't mean it's money related:
Tool
AC/DC
Led Zeppelin
Guns n Roses
The Beatles
Pink Floyd
Pearl Jam

They're coming:
Muse (Hysteria)
Metallica (Fuel)

No excuse:
Ozzy
Alice in Chains
The Offspring
Megadeath
Queen (personally adding that in)

These actually aren't requested much:
Bush
Live
Foo Fighters

Cost isn't always the main issue. Often enough, these bands just don't want their music associated with this sort of entertainment. That being said, the ones that are missing from the game that aren't far fetched on your list are Ozzy, Muse, Alice in Chains, Pearl jam, Offspring, Bush, Megadeath, Live, and Foo Fighters. Muse is coming in two weeks, Metallica loves rock band and there will be more songs by them for sure. I'm particularly aware of the absence of AIC and Megadeath.

As for the others don't hold your breath. Its not the money. Consider the fact that a band like Tool doesn't even use ITunes, and refuse to let their music into anything. Same with Led Zeppelin, who only let their music into School of Rock because Jack Black lampooned for it for months. HMX doesn't have any celebrities asking ad nausem for these bands. Guns and Roses has a contract with GH. AC/DC is another one that doesn't offer its music easily.

The continued problem is that most of these A-list bands wouldn't work with a cover either, most wouldn't do them justice. That, or the band themselves wouldn't allow it after the cover was done because THEY feel it doesn't do it justice (like in the case with Jimi Hendrix Spanish Castle Magic for GH1).

I'm with you on "other" forums. There's complaining here every week, and it pales in comparison to anywhere else on the net in regards to Rock Band DLC.

EDIT: Foo Fighters is requested ALOT on the Ultimate Setlist forum.

Yea it has mostly to do with Licensing the songs. I'm sure HMX is trying, but some of these bands are very hard to convince. Just take Tool as an example, someone posted their stance on the forums already. They said no!

Also aren't we getting a Foo Fighters Album soon? Or is that Pixies?

To be honest, I don't remember seeing any Blondie requested until after Call Me was released.

In terms of The Offspring, if licencing is partly a matter of asking the band personally, then that may be hard because they are very busy right now. They are promoting a new album and playing quite a few festivals.

But here's hoping they use Rock Band as a platform to market their new album and we get an Offsping pack on the release week of the Album. (June 11-16)

I requested a Blondie 6 pack before Call Me was released, started the thread March 12th. I really haven't seen Foo Fighters much but ok whatever, dunno why they're not there then.

When you requested a Blondie six pack is irrelevant, as mid-march until Call Me was not enough time to get things done.

You see the high horse?
You're not meant to be on it.

Why is it so hard for people to understand?

If they could get Led Zeppelin don't you think they would have by now?

Tool, Pink Floyd etc it's all the same.

Exactly,so unless you make HMX sweat and stop Downloading everything so they know you're serious about what you want, they're going to continue to do what they been doing.

But I like buying every new song that comes out. It gives me something to waste my piles of money one!

I've been pretty happy with the DLC recently. Nothing exactly mind-blowing, but some quality stuff. And the next two weeks look good with The Cars and EU packs likely to hit. I do have to wonder though, with all the on-disk bands getting extra DLC (although I guess some only as recently as last week). You have to wonder when we are eventually going to see some more RHCP tracks or maybe some Foo Fighters? Seems odd we haven't seen those yet. I can wait though. It's kind of fun never knowing when they might announce something awesome.

Yea every week is like a surprise birthday! Even if some weeks we get that knitted sweater from granma instead of that iPod we asked for!
