What am I missing?

I have beaten the solo tour on hard with guitar. (I can't get past Green Grass on expert, or I'd have that done too)

I have almost beaten the game on expert with drums.

With downloads, I have over 120 songs total. I've beaten almost all my songs on expert on guitar and on drums. In both solo quickplay and solo tour. I've even gold starred a few songs solo...

Why is it when I check the leaderboards it says "You have to play to be ranked"??

Am I doing something wrong?

Are you logged into Xbox Live while you're playing? It won't save the scores and upload them, so you have to be logged in while you're getting these scores. Besides that, it takes a while for the leaderboard to be updated, so don't check seconds after for your new score.

If neither of those are the case, don't know what to tell you.

No, for most of it I wasn't logged in to xbox live while playing. :(

I have done some while logged in... but I checked seconds later..
