Ok, so I was playing my guitar (really heavy downstrokes I must admit) and the high e string snapped.....anyone else really hate this? ..looks like I'm going to have to buy a new pack of them off ebay tomorow lol.

So, I was thinking, have you ever broken a string, which one and why?/was it a funny situation?

I usually break the low E string, since I don't change my strings often as I should, and have a pretty strong picking attack. B and high E strings usually break too since I bend a little too much, and they snap on my face.

A friend told me his father broke a string and it somehow drove itself into his hand and came back out near his wrist

I rarely break strings. Can't remember the last time I did. But did you know your music store usually keeps a store of single strings? If you know the gauge you use for your high E (usually .10, maybe .09 or .11 rarely .08) I'm sure you could get a single string if you really don't need to change all of 'em.

But I change strings pretty regularly. When I was playing daily probably 2x a week. If I were more methodical about wiping down after every time I played maybe they would last longer. I change 'em because they lose their tone and then their intonation. A lot of pros change strings before every gig. May have something to do with why I rarely break strings. That and I use pretty thick strings -- .11-.52. I like a wound G string. G's seem to be the strings that lose their intonation first.

Silly rabbit, there aren't any strings on the guitar! It's just a strum bar...pfft. Some people. :)
