Looks like this may be the surprise we were hearing about? Amazon has changed the price from $199.00 to $169.00. Does Amazon know something we don't? or is this a special offer? It also has Nov.23 as the release date?

Sounds reasonable, but Amazon has been really screwy with a lot of Rock Band stuff lately. They said that the Rock Band Bundle was going to come out like, October 2008 a few days back.

Holy cow, that would be great if it was true!

Amazon seems to be taking a bit to many pills lately to be considered a reliable source for anything RB reltated...

If so, that would be a nuclear-style bomb in the face of critics and GH3 fanboys.
GH3 = 99$, second controller 60$, 2 players of multiplay = $160
Rock Band Bundle, 4 players of multiplay = possibly $169
Of course nothing is nothing until anything's confirmed, but wow that would be the bee's knees.
Edit: I have been vocally anti- pre-ordering, but I am seriously tempted to preorder with Amazon now to lock in that price.

I heard Gamestop changed it too.
EDIT: They did.

I would think they have to stick to this price if you purchase it from them? It looks like it is an Amazon special. If you sign up for an Amazon Credit card you get an additional $30 off. With one day shipping it would be $155.00!!

I find $169.99 to be much more reasonable... Consider this: you save about $30-40 on a Guitar Hero game + guitar bundle. You should save even more on a bigger bundle. This made my day/week/fall/year!

What does this mean for the people who already pre-ordered the whole $200 bundle online? Do they get their money back, or does their credit card not get charged until it ships?

Just checked EB's site where I have it pre-ordered, and it's changed there as well. This is great news! Just saved me $30 :D

Most places only charge you when the item actually ships out, so you should be fine

They don't charge your CC until they ship it out to you, so you'll get the lower price.
I have a feeling they're screwing up the next-gen stuff with the ps2 version.

Well, looking at Amazon's pricing guidelines:
Pre-Order Price Guarantee
Amazon.com's price for not-yet-released items sometimes changes between the time the item is listed for sale and the time it is released and shipped. Whenever you pre-order a book, CD, video, DVD, video game, or software item, the price we charge when we ship it to you will be the lowest price offered by Amazon.com between the time you place your order and the release date. The order summary in Your Account will reflect the lowest price within 24 hours of the price change.
So, at least if you order from Amazon, you're only paying $170. Two obvious possibilities:
1) MSRP of $170
2) Amazon is losing a crap-ton of money.

If the price were to officially change:
If you preordered in stores, they'll just give back the money they owe you, or if it were to go up, you will give them the money needed
If you ordered online, then they will just give the credit back that is owed to you.

It looks like I jumped the gun. My Amazon pre-order was still showing up at $200, so I canceled the pre-order and tried to pre-order it again at the new price.
But when I try to order the $169 unit, I get:
We're sorry. The item Rock Band Special Edition is no longer available from the seller you selected.
I'm going to have to wait this one out. But it looks legit. It was hinted that we would get release info today, and we see a coordinated price drop from two major retailers.
