View Full Version : It's all HMX's fault

Months after the game has been released, I strongly believe that Rock Band is the best game out there. Better than any other rhythm game, Halo, GoW, Final Fantasy, and GTA. The reason I say this is that this game attract non-gamers. To me, that is the greatest accomplishment for a game.

Not only that, the creators of the game are very much in touch with it's players. We as players get great information when it is something they don't even need to (and perhaps should) give us. The company releases DLC's every single week, something that I don't believe any other game has going for it. The company even released a patch that included a fix, not to repair the game, but to make it more enjoyable. Needless to say, HMX has gone above and beyond what most, if not any, other gaming company does.

That said, this remains as one of the worst gaming communities I have ever been a part of. People insult each other's personal taste as well as the work being done by the company providing the great service. People not only ask, but demand for certain changes to be made to the game. Not to fix issues in the game, but so the game is better suited to their preferences. People endlessly whine that the game comes out later for them and then complain twice as much because it will be alot more expensive for them to buy it than someone in another continent.

To me, it is all really quite unfortunate. But this is all your fault HMX's, you guys simply spoiled us rotten.

How many companies patch the game and make it easier just because some people find it too hard (fan count in BWT)? Now you get people who want "no bass pedal" patches, and "no fail" modes. That same patch also made buying DLC a bit easier. It wasn't even that hard to begin with. It was simply a luxury thing. Now you get people who want "music player" mode as if the game is a glorified ipod. Some people want the game so that certain song do not appear in random setlists. That's like me asking Bungie to allow me to not have to deal with certain enemies in Halo because I don't like fighting them.

On top of that, you guys were nice enough to release a schedule of what DLC will come out. And what happened? We got mad because they felt that they should always know in advance what DLC will come out. And yet again, you guys give and give, telling us a few days in advance what DLC will come out in a given week. So what happens? We complain that the servers because everyone logs on at the same time to find the announcement. And when they get to it, we ***** and cry and insult each other because it wasn't the perfect song to cater to their tastes.

It's a real shame. You guys did great work and us players have this ridiculous sense or entitlement because of it. I think next time you guys make a game, you should just be like any other gaming company and limit your involvement with the community, you will have less headaches that way. Sometimes it seems like some people here think they own you guys as if you guys are slave to their every whim. Just the nature of people I guess. Give them an inch and they will demand a mile.

Just had to vent.

whether youre making a valid point or not... youre STILL COMPLAINING.

youre no better than anyone who complains about the game on here when you complain about the people who are complaining on here

without complaints, the developers dont know where they went wrong in order to improve the game.

not everything in life is lollipops and rainbows.

I had a really long discussion about this with some mates in college once. One of them was a huge Pearl Jam fan, and I said something derogatory about Mush-Mouth Vedder's voice. He took it personally.

Musical preference is a very very personal thing to most people. Deride their taste in music and they'll more than likely get pretty pissed.

Welcome to the "Me Generation", where the sense of entitlement is only overshadowed by the lack of personal responsibility.

I remember I recently made the horrible mistake of looking at one of Blizzard's patch-notes thread for a recent WoW update. Unfortunately, 'tude is a reality of the internet. I think most people are pretty decent folks... it's just that the excitement of being an anonymous jerk is often far more appealing to some than following the rules.

I would disagree that this is the worst. When called to do so, you guys have rallied and harnessed that energy. I remember Apples organized a community "Thanks!" sheet while we were still in crunch for RB. It was certainly a welcome note - we also got a nice Valentine's day card from the community.

Again, when called upon to contribute in a meaningful way, this community always does.

Thanks for the kind words!
