I've just heard about rock band and want to get it and im from the UK and there selling a solo edition of the game for £40 and wondered if the guitar hero 3 guitar works with rock band.

That's an interesting question.

With Activision not allowing the patch will the Les Paul still work on the Euro version of the 360?

I know for the Wii the answer is no.

The (lack of) PS3 patch does not affect 360 compatibility in anyway, as the Les Paul and Xplorer worked with Rock Band out of the box.
