I've been trying to listen to the various videos where the bassist whammies, and I haven't been able to pick it out very well. Anyways, in GH2 the thing that bothered me about bass was that most basses don't have whammy bars; actually I can't think of a single bass with a whammy. I thought I heard the bass act like a bend in one of the videos, but wasn't able to pick it out well enough. Anyone else hear it, or have played it and know for certain?

I know they exist, but they're a massive minority of basses. I just would find it odd if every song had the bass whammy-d, when the majority of bassists would bend the string.

I jut wanted an excuse to post pictures of bass tremlos, haha, i guess it's just because you really can't bend on a button.

I suppose its all according to style. If you're copying songs then you wont use a whammy, but if you're just messing around with it, bass whammy would sound kl I guess. But bass is just something you don't play with I spose.

Yeah, I was kinda hoping they'd make the whammy bar do a tremolo for the bass. Not a huge deal for me, just weird hearing the pitch drop instead of go up.

I don't get what you mean.

Not the first time eh...

RB: Why not put in Rock Band - you still get star power.
Real Life: Keep the whammy away from the bass.

Pretty sure it'll be just like the GH games with bass, which means there is a good chance that bass in all songs will have the "option" to whammy notes or not. Don't take my word for it though, I rather have someone here that has actually played the game comment on it.

Les uses a whammy. He's got it on a handful of his Carl Thompson custom basses.

In fact, the opening to "John The Fisherman" is him screwing around with the whammy.

Just imagine yourself as that minority of badasses. Problem solved!

Hey that's what games are for right?

LOL I would love string bending, somehow... replace the god awful whammy (the one on my Squier just makes it go out of tune in seconds)

I guess, but yuck, most of the bass whammy sounds so out of place. Maybe I'm old fashioned, but it just sounds better to me with the note bending up. Not a huge deal, just one of those personal preference things.

Still wondering if anyone with hands-on time has noticed this.

I'm just going to remove the wammy from the Bass, putting in my locally signature 'Sound Hole', I'll probably remove the pick guard while I'm at it, along with the bottom two of the pegs on the headstock

Well I guess it depends on what style the bass plays in the song. If it's just their to support, or lay down the songs foundation, I don't expect many cord bends. Now if its more of a backup guitar, except as a bass; Flea from RHCP I think could be an example... or the Bassist from Rush. Then I'd expect the song to have bends and more active riffs. Or if it's a funk Bass, expect anything.

I haven't played RB hands-on, but I bet you money their will be Bass whammies like in GH.

Whammy bars aren't too bad, Squier is an entry level guitar. They also have Floyd Roses that lock the string in tune so not even turning the machine heads/tuners will work. Only problem with it is its a pain in the ass to change a string. String bending for the game wouldn't be a bad idea if only you could find out a way to make it work.
