I think that was debunked in the OXM podcast, but I'm not 100% sure, it might be in the game.

negative... for the world band tour it's just an online leaderboard type setup.

yeah no head to heads (one band vs. another) directly, every band is competing on the leaderboards for the top spot. Really would enjoy band vs. band though, if not for the fin value, but to settle disputes....with a rock off! Thanks

I believe it has been discussed that it may be possible to go head to head against another band, like a battle of the bands. I don't think it was ever confirmed, and if it isn't in the game, I think they are certainly working on it and have thought of it, but it just might not work out.

This would be possible on Ps3's Home it is able to have up to 60 People per room a concert sort of place could be built for Band VS Band.

It's not that the server couldn't handle it... EA servers might not be able to.. but I know it could work out. Like Halo 3 has 8 on 8 matches, Gears of War has 4 on 4 matches, Call of Duty has around 8 on 8.

I'm just skeptical on who's hosting the servers.. If EA is somehow doing it, I'm gonna be pissed because their servers are SLOW AND LAGGY. If it's the player hosts the matches I wont care as much because the connection on those are much better.

I think the absolute main concern for RB's Online play is to try and make it as lagless as possible. Because any lag could ruin the entire online match. That and look at how tight lipped HMX is about their online play.. we haven't heard a lot about it yet. So expect a lot of possible outcomes..

I dont think lag will be a problem, full stop. It shouldn't matter if the servers are really awesome or just average, the techniques Harmonix are (probably) using will mean it'll work either way.

I don't think you're going to have to worry about "EA's servers" slowing things down. Unlike first person shooters, the online system is almost certainly going to be more of a peer-to-peer system.

Client/Server architectures are actually kind of poor for minimizing lag, but are primarily used because it is well suited for preventing cheating. Rock Band will be some form of peer-to-peer architecture, where an online match making service peers up individual consoles, which then connect to establish a game session.

This will provide the best game experience for everyone involved. Less lag for us, less infrastructure for Harmonix (well, whomever Harmonix contracts for that sort of thing).

It was already confirmed that RB will NOT use EA's servers.

And there was much rejoicing... :D
