SO I woke up thios morning and saw that one of the buses was at Northwestern U today in chicago. Realizing IU had nothing to do today. I set out. 1 hour later I park somewhere in evanston along the make michigan shore. Walk 2 miles north realize I can only get to the football stadium via a street 4 blocks south, head back then walk the same 3 blocks north.
Anyways, only a few people were playing when I arrived. Met a dude name fabio who showed me to a completely vacant demo station. And got to work.
Immediately failed paranoid on expert guitar. Amazed, I retried and only lasted a few extra bars. Dumbfounded I switched to drums. and failed dani california on hard. Now I'm downright confused. Mind You I've owned several iterations of guitar freaks GH1 and 2(2 on both ps2 and 360) as well as a full drummania set.
After dropping down a difficulty I found my stride in drums. People started showing up and the roadies set a group of 3 up to play with me on teh station. We eneded up having a blast. All 3 came especially for RB and even though they didn't know the ins and outs of either instrument they all did great being GH fans. The last half of my time was more enjoyable with everyone playing. I got guitar back down for RB and was back on expert in no time.
DRUMS: Most people will need to set up the drums how they like them. I had trouble with the kick pedal placement but it's designed to slide left and right. It also has a couple of slots in it to change how far away you need it. I also saw that you can just remove it from the base and place it wherever. I accidently hit the guide button a couple times. It was a bit annoying but seemed more my fault than the controllers.
BASS: Same as it ever was only the bass effects give you something to do and when you get 4x you get a bass groove. The Note chart becomes a silk blue texture and every note resounds and sends shockwaves through the chart.
GUITAR: I know I know how are the solo buttons. Honestly I could never reach them in time. so not much feed back on them sorry. the controller just felt right. I never got uncomfortable. After I got used to it my only problem was that I had trouble telling if I mistakenly had a fret held down that didn't need to be held down. so I'd miss a few power chords here and there. Either my controller had a broken tilt sensor or you can activate star power just by whammying a lot.
Vocals: first time on vocals I failed out though I swear I was on key for most of the notes in black hole sun. second time through I nailed it. I felt like it made me sing in a certian way to do well but I'm guessing I may have just been singing wrong. Saying funny things in freestyle will be teh new way of showing off in RB. I was pretty reserved since I was playing with people I didn't know but I kept want to scream some nonesense at teh time.
the demo locked up occasionally the roadies explained that HMX is on build #8 and that teh demos were made with build #2. This early code also caused some slowdown at time but the game stayed in sync just tended to look slow at times.
Last note note: I had hoped to meet john from HMX while I was there. The roadies said he kind dissappeared a few hours before I got there. It was cool. I had brought a couple cds of my music to give him and hopefully take back to boston so I just left them with fabio. I just wanted HMX to hear some of the music they helped inspire way back in the day when they made Frequency and amplitudes. Thnaks again to fabio teh roadie and I hope that cd does make it to boston because tehy should know that their doing good work. all answer as many questions as I can.

Fabio is the 2nd biggest HMX celebrity next to Mr S. Moustache! Fabio's definitely going to be the name of my first rocker

fabio works for mtv(pretty sure). he also was pissed that someone here quoted him about the led zepp stuff because they took what he said totally out of context.

Fabbio is so cool. Every preview mentions the invincible Fabbio.

some more quick personal notes.
SO poor fabio didn't even know teh confirmed release dates and prices. I let him know HMX confirmed it with gamespot and then afterword all the roadies were telling everyone who played when it was coming and for how much.
On my way home I put 25 bucks down on the 360 special edition bundle. Can't wait.

I was up there on Friday rocking out. I drove over 4 hours just to get there and it was worth every minute of it. We had a bigger crowd on Friday, but I wouldn't call it a huge one. I'm glad that it wasn't too crazy as it gave me more time to experience the game and hang with John and Fabio.
The instruments did take a little time to get used to. Overall, the Fender felt solid, and I was able to play on Expert without too much difficulty. The highest I ever got on the drums was Hard. I also was hitting the guide button on a regular basis. Like you said, it's more my fault than the anything.
November can't come soon enough!
