Will PS3 Players be playing this in January or will there be RB2 out???

Nobody has info on Rock Band 2 so nobody can answer that. Just get Rock Band. It rules.

Ouch, that's a long wait to get your PS3. Even if there's no "RB2" yet by the end of the year, there will probably be around 200 DLC songs (if they continue at the same pace) to choose from and I'm sure lots of people will still be playing RB. :)

no one will be playing Rock band, Rock Band 2, Rock Band 3 or Rock band 12 by then. You might as well save your money.

Wait until E3. It's the second week of July. If Harmonix were to announce a Rock Band 2, it'll probably be around then. That's when the big announcements come out, to get people hyped up before Christmas.

Actually the publishers expect there to be OVER 200. But yah. Even if Rock Band 2 does come out I hope the make all the instruments and DLC from RB compatible with RB2.

I think that they shouldn't release a whole new game, but release new, sturdier instruments (like the drums should be sturdier), and expansion packs and stuff. Not a whole new game though, that would totally confuse everyone.

well yeah i really dont have any money but i do have it on ps2 and im 13. im really excited to get a ps3 maybe ill even have it by the end of the summer idk but i really wouldnt want a RockBand 2 because this one is pretty awesome

I would suggest getting RockBand anyways then holding off for 1 month to get RB2 "If" it even comes out wich I doubt, HmX is not the type to rush their games.

I doubt RB2 will be out this year. HMX seems to be planning for the this to be an evolving platform (by which I mean periodic updates to change the game experience instead of a game that will be rendered obsolete by a sequel). I'm sure there will be some form of an RB2 someday but not until 2010. Just my guess.

That said...

Activision IS going to be releasing packaged expansions and sequels for GH over the course of the year and HMX is going to have to do something to compete for retail shelf space in order to keep attracting new gamers. I would look for a Rock Band 1.5. We know they're preparing a 'best of DLC' package for PS2. I think RB1.5 would be the core game with the 'best of' content included, maybe with some new avatar looks and venues. Maybe some form of deluxe edition controllers as well.
