OFFICIAL: Rock Band / Harmonix Gratitude Project Thread

Hello All,

Several forum members here have come to me with a very clever community involvement project. As a fellow member of this forum, I am happy to help spearhead this effort.

First, Some Background:

Today we kick off October. This is likely the month that Harmonix will conclude development on the software for Rock Band. It represents the culmination of efforts by a very large and talented team on a supermassive project. To commemorate the event, we would like to present the Harmonix staff with a "Congratulations" or "Thank You" card of sorts.

It is basically going to be a token to say, "Thank You for all of your hard work!" "Thank you for making games we are all really passionate about!" and "Congratulations for finally getting it all done!"


Good Idea, How Do I Get Involved?

We would like to collect names and comments from the Rock Band fanbase to add to this card. This is your chance to make yourself heard and say a word of appreciation. To add yourself to the card you have two options.


* For forum members, simply add a response to this post, including your name (nickname, real name, or both), along with a 1-4 line thank you comment.

* For non-forum members, we have set up an online petition that anyone can visit to submit an entry. http://www.petitiononline.com/HMX/petition.html


This is not your traditional Hallmark card... it is a pretty elaborate piece. I am going to be intentionally vague on the specifics to retain the element of surprise when the finished goods are presented. Suffice it to say... it is really cool looking, and you will want to be a part of it.

Comments and name signatures will be collected over the next week until this thread is locked. The more signatures and statements of well-wishing, the better this project will end up looking, and I'd like it to be damn impressive.

Between Frequency, Amplitude, Guitar Hero, the RB tourbus, the nice $169 RB bundle price, and all of the HMX community involvement, we have a lot to be grateful for. Here's your chance to do something in return!

EDIT: You guys are quick, good questions and some things I'd like to clarify.


1. You only need to post in ONE of the two locations. Two locations were set up simply to give non-forum members a method to participate.

2. Do not sign multiple times. One posting is sufficient. The posts will be screened for duplication and offenders will be thrown off entirely.

3. If you have family, friends, co-workers, etc who would like to participate, you may sign for them as well. Anyone who's a fan can participate.

4. Get the word out! Tell your mates, buddies, folks on other forums, etc and get them involved!

4A. Smart assed fake names, malicious comments, and general douchebaggery will be removed at my discretion. If you don't agree with this project, simply ignore it. This is supposed to be a positive experience and there are other venues to vent.

5. Someone commented to me that the GH2 360 DLC protest petition got like 9 THOUSAND entries. I would be happy with a few dozen to a few hundred entries for this little project. (although it can accomodate any size) Let's show everyone that gamers can get behind something positive just as much as we can get around something about griping.

UPDATE: 10/2 Not to give too many secrets away, but we are working on a way to include everyone's forum avatar in the card as well. (The green panda bear next to my name, for example) If you don't have one, don't worry, we have some awesome space fillers. If you do, make sure it's set to the one you want prior to the close of thread.

UPDATE: 10/3 This thread is starting to slide out of the first page as folks have concluded making their comments. Therefore, I am going to stick this topic until THIS FRIDAY NOON EASTERN TIME to give everyone ample opportunity to post Once the thread is unsticked, it will be closed. We have more than enough material now for this project (Codenamed: Project Awesome!) but more is always welcome.


FINAL UPDATE: 10/4 There are 12 hours left to add a comment. We have met our goal almost PERFECTLY... the prelimary version of the project looks amazing. More comments are still welcome though. This project is shaping up to look amazing... last chance to get your name involved. Once I close down this thread, I will post a blog entry with pics of the finished product. Over 200 unique entries have been tallied thus far.

POST FINAL, PRE-LOCK UPDATE: 10/5 I am preemptively unsticking this thread in preparation for a lock. You may still post however as long as the thread remains open. A sincere congratulations to everyone who participated... we received well over 200 entries across seven contients (yes, even some penguins got involved... how they type with those flippers is a mystery though)
