No I don't want any arguments here about which is better the DS or PSP. They are both pretty unique in their own way. Anyways, Does anyone have one? and if so do you have an official sony firmware or a custom firmware? I myself am running DAX's 3.40 OE-A Custom Firmware, later tonight i'm thinking about going with Team M33's 3.71 CFW.
Here are some things I like about having a custom firmware.
First, custom icons and the ability to take a screenshot or even record the screen.

It also works in game as well, (I won't add a .gif because they're pretty big in file size, but here is a pic.)

Another reason, You can run "Homebrew" which is applications everyday people have made that you can play on your system. Such as a Emulators,Various Utlities,Games.
N64 Emulator:

They also have a NES,SNES,SEGA,PS1 emulator for the PSP. In a custom firmware you can use your OWN ps1 discs and rip them to the computer, once ripped you can convert them to work with the PSP. if you have an official sony firmware they won't let you do this, you have to buy the game off the PSN.
A big big big feature of the CFWs for PSP is the fact that you can rip your UMD to your PSP and then run the ISO. This makes loading times MUCH faster, Here is a video for an example.
<object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/L1xn_pP5iQI"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/L1xn_pP5iQI" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
There are some other cool features such as being able to acces files on your computer, actually controlling your computer, using the PSP as a TV remote, playing ISOs of the backed up games you have on your PSP by accessing them from the computer, The ability to play NES games that has 2 player with a friend that also has a CFW PSP. And much much more.
Anyways, just thought I'd share this with you guys and see who else is into customizing their PSP :p

Nah, I have a 1gig stick with 4 real PSP games, Homebrew (including emulators and games), my saves, some photos, 10 songs and still enough room for 30 or so more.
I will admit though, some PSP games take up more than 600MB though. that could cause some problems.

I got bored of my DS, my Mum plays Puyo Pop Fever on it. I got bored of my PSP, sold it and used the money for my guitar. I don't like handheld gaming - it doesnt meet my console gaming expectations.

I actually miss my old PSP so I am going to be picking up a new PSP-2000 for my birthday. I wanna get back into some Twisted Metal action and they have other goodies like Midway Arcade Treasures, and freakin Bomberman (that game pwnz).

Dshiz, you should really consider into getting an older PSP :p the loading time is a lot faster with the ISO, then again the new Slims load pretty damn fast considering it caches everything onto the stick. I just like the complete freedom the older PSP gives me.

LMAO! So which one??? Nah I want a slimmy slim because they've improved stuff about it, and you can also do the video out stuff to your TV now...Plus the new ones come with a 1GB stick, so thats less money I have to spend, though I will be getting another stick for extra media.

Yeah, I actually think the new slim is pretty sexy. Plus it has a lot of improvements compared to the old PSP and from the video I saw about how fast a game loads, letme just say that UMD vs ISO example I gave, The slim loads about the same as the ISO psp. Only thing is you can't play old classic games and such, and you're limited to the PS1 games you can play. You'll have to have a PS3 if you actually want any PS1 games (some are good, some aren't that great).

What do you mean by "I don't have great luck with emulators." Do you get bad ones that work ****ty or what?

Its just kind of a pain in the ass to get them going and stuff...I couldnt even get MAME to work on my computer.

MAME is more work than others. You need to know which version of MAME you're using and what games it plays, then you need to find the ROM BIOS that matches, like finding the old Neo Geo ROM BIOS was tough years ago.
MAME is pretty easy now, since a lot of that stuff is considered public domain now.
Non-MAME emus are pretty much "put it in this directory, and put it's games in the 'games' directory inside of that".

www.1rom.net has a ton of emulators/roms. I'm kind of on that "don't download if you don't own it" thing though, I feel kind of dirty if I download a game and I don't have the cartridge/cd.
Project 64 is the best N64 EMU and it works great, especially since no Bios is required. Same with Nesticle and a few others.

Well...I figured this...Why download Mortal Kombat 1,2 and 3 onto the PSP through emulation, when I could just go out, buy a used copy of Midway Arcade Treasures which has those games on it plus more, and have little problem (loading times are a *****, but the new PSP fixed that.) Really thats the only reason why I want MAT is for Mortal Kombat. I have the MAT on my laptop for MK, and I want the PSP version too. I really just think emulation is a hassle and I dont wanna deal with it.

Yeah I can get where you're coming from with that, it is a bit of a hassle when you first start out with it but once you figure it all out everything works golden. If I would of known about the slim I probably would of gotten that instead, especially with it's loading times now. But i'm one of the lucky people that gets a system a few days before people get word of a remodel =\ It's a curse, and I hate it.
