No, I don't have a survey for you to take. This is just about a survey that someone had taken. Also, this is not an official announcement of anything, but it is another addition to the pile of rumors about a Rock Band 2 happening.

Describing Rock Band 2 as "similar to full featured sequels you see released by other big video game franchises, such as Need for Speed, Devil May Cry, Final Fantasy" adding new capabilities on par with a "Guitar Hero to Guitar Hero II" iteration

A couple of the interesting questions:

# If Guitar Hero released a new game with full band play (guitar, bass, drums, singing) similar to Rock Band, which game would you be most likely to purchase?

# Now, which game would you be most likely to choose if one were priced slightly lower than the other?

Harmonix needs to know/learn it's not about the price, it's about the music!

Give me rage against the machine, Queen, The Doors, Tool, Guns N Roses, Metaliica, Journey, The Eagles, Boston, etc... and I'll buy that game, even if it's more (considerably) than it's competitor, with say Freezepop, The Mother Hips and The Runaways.

The biggest thing for me will be if I can use the Instruments I already own with the next version. I don't have any more room.

100% correct. The music will win my vote not the gimmicks and plastic

Yep, exactly why I bought Rock Band over Guitar Hero. Choice of music, and the non-stop DLC.

I agree, for the most part. The soundtrack was one of the big reasons I picked up RB and not GH3. Whichever game has more songs that I prefer to play, I will buy (unless they are both awesome, then I'll get both.)

I don't really agree with your jab at Harmonix though, considering GH3 had some weak bonus songs (unless you were not trying to jab at Harmonix, in which case ignore this paragraph. :D)

10 dollars here or there doesn't matter, it's all about the music harmonix. How do u compete with Activision which has said no covers will be in ghiv and that ghiv has a much better looking drum set?

I think Harmonix is trying to answer this. If you noticed we have had an increase of orginal DLC. You have to keep in mind that there are legalities that they have to jump through. They are also the play form for new music debuts, example of that is Saints of Los Angeles by Motley Crue.

I think they are working on the drum issue by signing contracts with Mad Catz and having ION make a set. Honestly I think the Ion set is going to be better and sturdier than the GHIV drum set picture I have seen.

I do agree it is about the music. Give me all the bands that was mentioned by Undertow and I will add Prince and some others. If this is Rock Band and you are bringing the biggest names in Rock past and present, that needs to include everyone who is big in Rock.

At this point in the music game wars there are a few considerations.

Music and band selection
Frequency of DLC
Durability of equipment
Backwards compatibility

People have been complaining about the DLC, but it's only within the last month has the really indy stuff that has creeped in. If we got 3-5 well-known and popular songs per month, people should be happy.

Durability is an issue since EA will not replace these things forever. On the other hand, once most of the kinks are worked out, only the most hardcore player should have a problem with equipment breakdowns.

Backwards compatibility will become a big issue in the future. Hopefully they will work backwards, otherwise these music games will quickly wear out their welcome.

QFT. :)

I am a bit concerned with Mad Catz. Although, I will say their quality has gone up significantly since I last used any of their accessories; I used their Xbox controllers and I was not a big fan of how the buttons were not as sensitive. However, I recently purchased a PS3 Wireless (w/rumble) controller by them as it was far cheaper than the DualShock 3. Now I normally don't get third-party controllers, but I will say this one was very well done. I got it on sale for $35 and I can't complain whatsoever.

However, my concern that crap will be made still lingers.

Not too sure about ION since I don't know much about what they'll have, etc.

Mad Catz doesn't have anything listed yet, but check it out here (http://rockband.madcatz.com/).

For me, it's all about backwards compatiblity. I know HMX will get the songs and gameplay right, but what they really need to keep their customers is to have full compatiblity with the original download content and original instruments.

They can release new, more durable instruments. Infact, I'd highly encourage that, but the gameplay needs to be similar enough to the original so that we can use our old drums and guitars, if we so choose.
