Cool stuff. Lets say if your 58 DLC songs were another game. Which game would you like better, the original disc or the 58 DLC songs you have?

It seems like you're extremely thorough and selective with your DLC purchases from your comments on the forums.

If you're up to 58 DLC that means they must have cumulatively done a reasonably good job over the course of the past 6 months.

Weren't those originally only 80, err, .99? I dont remember paying 2 bucks for what i thought at the time was crap.

I since have developed a fondness of 30 seconds.

Looks like a good list to me. I'd recommend adding the Bowie pack when you can. It's got a couple of covers, but it's one of my favorites.

I dunno for him, but if I had 58 DLC I'd say I'd like the DLC songs better, just because I got to pick them so I know I like them all. I like most of the disc songs but there's a handful I don't care for.

Wow... good question. There are a lot of songs on the orig disk that I and my friends like to play.

So, songs from the disk I would not have bought if they were offered:
Timmy
Sabotage - No a big Beastie fan, while I like the song, I would not have bought it.
Outside by Tribe - hmmmm, don't even remember how this song sounds, don't even remember playing it...
I get by - Honest Bob - Don't like the song at all, would have listened to the song, looked at the chart and said, no.
Day Late, Dollar Short - Acro-brats - Just don't like the song.
Cherub Rock - Not a pumpkins fan, as you can tell from my lack of DLC. This song I may have picked up, however, since I do like it.
Brainpower - Freezepop - uhhh, I would not have the other Freezepop song on my harddrive if it didn't get added with the other two songs from OXM.

of of the orig 58 songs, I would not have gotten seven of them... that is pretty good, I think.

Of the DLC I wish I didn't buy?
Bang a Gong - T Rex - No one wants to play it. I like the song, but it never gets played.
Sprode - freezpop - just don't care for the song, part of OXM so it was put on automatically.
China Cat Sunflower - Dead - I just can't stand this song, never have liked it and I still don't. But, with the pack it was basically free, so now I have it on the harddrive.

So, that is 55 of the 58 I really like.

Biggest surprise for me... when I asked what Oasis song I should down load from the forums and found that, while I don't like their albums (I have three of their CDs) the two songs I did download have become some of the ones I go back to over and over again. They are fun.

Now, for the question asked... which do I like better... the DLC, but not by a whole lot. I still play a lot of the songs from the Disc. I think HMX did a very good job in song selection.

Weren't those originally only 80, err, .99?
You are correct, I screwed up. I will fix it.

No Ten Speed?
Nope, I listened to the song and I checked out the charts, but the song just didn't grab me. I love "Welcome Home" but just can't get into "Ten Speed". So, I didn't DL it.

Boo for no thrash pack!
Don't like strumming like that, I can't do it and it pisses me off. Thus, not Thrash Pack...

No Perfect Drug? You're missing out :/
This one is still on my radar. The other two NIN songs are not. I just can't seem to make the commitment on this song.

Looks like a good list to me. I'd recommend adding the Bowie pack when you can.
Never been a big Bowie fan. Been thinking about Heros for a long time, but again, just can't seem to conclude that I would want to play the song more than one time.

OK, because I am afraid I am missing out on some good songs and not knowing any better way to determine which of the 45 songs to DL, I am going to use http://www.dlcstats.com/ to help me decide.

I took each of the songs that I have not DLed yet and grabbed the ranking from the web site above. I then divided the number by the total days since the song was first released (+30 to offset the initial front loading) to get a ranking that is more neutral vs. the length of time the song has been available. Not scientific by any means, but it gave me something to work with.

Using this I get the following ranking of songs:

Wonderwall Oasis Rock 1990s DLC
All the Small Things Blink 182 Punk 1990s DLC
Move Along All-American Rejects Emo 2000s DLC
Saints of Los Angeles Motley Crue Rock 2000s DLC

Using this as a sign of popularity, I may download the bolded songs on the list just to check them out. These are the songs that are "above the average 'score' that I calculated". Afterall, if they are popular enough to be "above average" then I may be missing out on something. I can afford an additional $20 or so to check them out.

I'm not too sure which instruments you prefer to play, but I'll run over my feelings on these.

Wonderwall is a pretty solid pick all-around. On the easy side, but still enjoyable -- it's the one I play the least out of the Oasis pack, however. I don't regret the purchase.

All the Small Things is very simple on guitar, fairly meh on vocals, and I enjoyed it on drums. It is, however, a 'party' song, and if you play with people that will like it I don't consider it a waste. I somewhat regret purchasing it, because most of the people I play with regularly are not fans.

Move Along is fun (if tricky) on drums, and I found it alright on vocals/guitar. It is also a 'party' song, and it's pretty catchy. I don't regret it.

Saints of Los Angeles is a fun song I haven't played much, so I can't really give a lot of feedback. I enjoyed it overall, and so far I don't regret it.

Beethoven's C*** is one I'm rather 'meh' on. I've done it once on vocals, once on drums, and twice on guitar. It didn't really stand out to me, although I did enjoy it the second time around on guitar. I don't regret it for the price I paid for it, and it may grow on me with time.

Zero didn't do a whole lot for me. I actually preferred the Mother Hips' two choices, but Zero is not by any means bad. It's just not one of my favourite Pumpkins songs.

The Perfect Drug is one of my favourites. I can't do it on Expert drums (so I fall back to Hard), but I love it on vocals and guitar. It's just my kind of song.

Attack has yet to grow on me. It's one that I don't mind playing when it comes up on random, but I don't select it when playing solo unless I haven't yet played it on the instrument/difficulty in question and want to have it not show up as 'New'. I'm not overly fond of it.

Ten Speed really grew on me when I first grabbed, but I honestly haven't played it more than twice since that first week (going through things in alphabetical order means it's coming soon). Can't really give good, current feedback on it.

El Scorcho is a good novelty song, but overall it felt like a waste.

March of the Pigs is another one I love. I play it all the time. It's a great vocal/drum track, and I enjoy it on guitar just because of the pacing.

I'm not too sure which instruments you prefer to play, but I'll run over my feelings on these.

I play which ever the group needs me to play. Mostly play during parties. Your feed back is wonderful, especally coupled with my just finished listen to of the songs and viewing of the charts.

Your acessment closely follows my own in viewing the charts.

Wonderwall is a pretty solid pick all-around. On the easy side, but still enjoyable -- it's the one I play the least out of the Oasis pack, however. I don't regret the purchase.
After listening to this and watching the charts, I just can't seem to make myself want to buy it. The other two songs are great, this one just doesn't grab me. Still don't think I will be getting it.

All the Small Things is... a 'party' song.
Sold.

Move Along is... also a 'party' song, and it's pretty catchy. I don't regret it.
I still don't really care for the song, but I agree, it would probably be a good party song. So, I will take your advice on this one.

Saints of Los Angeles is a fun song I haven't played much, so I can't really give a lot of feedback. I enjoyed it overall, and so far I don't regret it.This is one I am really struggling with. I just can't decide. I have never been a big Crue fan. I think if it starts getting a lot of radio play I will pick it up... until then, nah.

Beethoven's C*** is one I'm rather 'meh' on.
I really appreciate your feedback on this one. Its 'meh' for me to, I just can't hear the attraction for the song. SOD was never a band I was really high on anyway but this solo song just lost something without the band backing him. I will not be getting this afterall.

Zero didn't do a whole lot for me. I actually preferred the Mother Hips' two choices, but Zero is not by any means bad. It's just not one of my favourite Pumpkins songs. Thanks for this feedback too. I just listened and watched Zero three times. Its just not for me.

The Perfect Drug is one of my favourites. I can't do it on Expert drums (so I fall back to Hard), but I love it on vocals and guitar. It's just my kind of song. I just watched the video below amazed... wow... Anyway, I believe this will be added to my collection.
<object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/AzYSDlQBiIs&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/AzYSDlQBiIs&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>

Attack has yet to grow on me. It's one that I don't mind playing when it comes up on random, but I don't select it when playing solo unless I haven't yet played it on the instrument/difficulty in question and want to have it not show up as 'New'. I'm not overly fond of it. I just couldn't get into the playback I watched. I really like "The Kill" by this band, but this song I just don't care for.

Ten Speed really grew on me when I first grabbed, but I honestly haven't played it more than twice since that first week (going through things in alphabetical order means it's coming soon). Can't really give good, current feedback on it. Listening to the song and watching the charts makes me a little closer to wanting to pick this song up. Your feedback has been very helpful so far and your undecision added to mine makes me wonder if I would enjoy this song or not. I think I will wait...

El Scorcho is a good novelty song, but overall it felt like a waste. Yeah, listening to it just... I don't know, its not even a song to me. No way I will be getting this one after listening to the song and checking out the charts.

March of the Pigs is another one I love. I play it all the time. It's a great vocal/drum track, and I enjoy it on guitar just because of the pacing. I have always been a fan of Downward Spiral, but this song was never one of my favorites... I will have to buy it and give it a try.

So, out of those ten, it looks like only four of them will be added to my collection at this point. I really appreciate your feedback on this.

12/4/2007 - NIB - Black Sabbath 1.99

The white ones are what I have. I also grabbed the NiN pack (accidentally when trying to get the Metallica pack), Still Alive (how do you not have that?), and Saints of Los Angeles ($1 ftw!) for a total of 46 songs.

I'm surprised that you don't like China Cat Sunflower. I had never heard that song before - and I'm not a big Grateful Dead fan anyway - but it's a blast on guitar. It's one of my surprise favorites in the game.

I really wished I was paying better attention when I accidentally grabbed the NiN pack. I like The Perfect Drug, and The Collector's okay, but March of The Pigs hurts my ear. I played it once and haven't gone back.

Still Alive (how do you not have that?)
Just can't stand the song... even free I don't want it.

It's one of my surprise favorites in the game. I know I have had several people say that to me. Sure, its fun to play, but I just don't like the song. I would rather listen to China Cats yowling in my ear than listen to that song.

So, you don't suggest March of the Pigs, huh... Thanks, I have made a mental note of that.

I would suggest "Why do you Love Me" by Garbage... I don't know why, but I love playing that song and shouting out the Chorus...

I wold have just spent that time playing the game:)

Good list though. I think I have about 70 to 80 bits of DLC myself and I love em.

I know you said you aren't a Bowie fan, but I'm with Fatal T on this one: you can't go wrong with the Bowie pack. Even as a non-fan, all three of the songs are excellent on all four of the instruments. Outside of vocals, none of the songs are particularly challenging, but I've had more fun playing Moonage Daydream than I've ever had playing any other song. Queen B and Heroes aren't too shabby, either; they're atmospheric, band-centric songs, and I think the cover singer did a good job capturing Bowie's voice. At least pick up Moonage, if you get the chance. :D The solo in that song is a work of art.

Joker & the Thief was also my first DLC song :) I broke 58 when Still Alive was released.
