Hi all,
I am very excited about this game and will be preordering the bundle for the xbox 360. I do however would like to know if any of you can inform me about compatibility with the Guitar hero 2 and 3 controllers since the bundle will have one guitar I would like to be able to use the one from guitar hero 2 or 3 (preordered that one as well) with this game. This game will take gaming onto a whole new level since there are more things to master and this will make replay value soar through the roof hehe. Now this is a game that the whole family can enjoy together. Excellent work guys.
Rock on!!!!!:D

Nobody knows yet. It's really all up to Red Octane because they only want their guitars compatible with GH3 and on the site for Rock Band, it says you can use any guitar that is compatible with Rock Bands open-source program (something of that sort) but it's still up to Red Octane if they want to make it compatible.

Thanks for the info. I hope they do let it be supported. I was checking the set list and am now wanting to jump into a time machine and zapping to the end of November to get it now lol.

Go to the end of October to play GH3 for a little bit then to the end of November to play Rock Band :D

Harmonix confirmed that the GH2 controller would work with the game.
And Alex confirmed that they would like to try and make as many guitars compatable with the game. So I'm assuming that, especially since GH3 is popular, that the GH3 controllers will work with the game by a patch, if not at launch.

Plus, they have a few videos of them using the GH2 Xplorer with Rock Band... So that has to count for something?

Just to let you know, that was WAY back and in an early build of the game. So far it looks like it wont actually be in the game but [AGAIN] nobody knows for sure.

I think we should all pop over to the Guitar Hero forums and say that if Red Octane don't make the GHIII controller compatible with Rock Band and vice-versa that we just won't but GH III... or cry.

As they repeatedly ban the accounts and then eventually IP-Ban us... :p

Lol, and no doubt they'd double their effort to make the guitar incompatible, just out of pure spite...well more spite.
What if we did it passive-aggressively, joining threads saying "I can't wait to use the GHIII controller with Rock Band, that's going to be sooooooo awesome! Woo! It's possibly the only reason I'm buying the game! Yippee!" and then act all dejected when we're informed they probably won't work. I'm good at playing dumb, it comes naturally.

Lol that would be funny. I am sure they wont make the extra effort to make it useless with Rockband since they cant even keep the dlc release dates steady.

I'm pretty sure both companies will fold and eventually make controllers compatible after they get a ton of emails and complaints from people who are pissed off their controllers don't work... hopefullY!

Definition of Activision: Gaming company which hates it's customer, and will do anything to make them buy what it wants them to buy. For opposites see: Harmonix

I might be confused here, But aren't the Guitar Hero and Rock Band products still affiliated in some sort of way? If so making them both compatible via the controllers would be an excellent selling point for them and very profitable.

Not really, Red Octane and Harmonix are owned by two different companies now. Red Octane and Activision are acting like a bitter ex, but instead of burning photos they're just acting all pissy and more than likely making the guitars incompatible. Basically they're terrified of Rock Band and are trying to 'protect' their product, but are probably killing more sales than they're saving.

To understand why Activision is playing their cards the way they are, I refer you to Penny Arcade. http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2007/08/10
They pretty much nailed it...

God I love Penny Arcade. I actually wore my "Guitar Hero" shirt that I got from them to the Tour. The people loved it.

I love the look of the fender guitar but I was wondering if RB planed on skins or even new guitar designs in the near future?

From the pics I seen of the Fender controller it looks really detailed. In fact all the controller pictures I saw like the drums really impressed me alot. Thats one of the things that will make sales solid for this game. All that and a bunch of excellent tracks to go with it.

Do you mean like other brands of guitars? If so, that isn't going to happen due to their exclusive agreement with Fender. They freaked out when I brought my modded SG on the Tour Bus. They were afraid that Fender would get upset if anyone took a picture of a Gibson controller there.
As far as other Fenders besides the Strat, I would be surprised and disappointed if they didn't. Judging from the other (real) guitars hanging up in the tour bus, they'll be taking full advantage of all that Fender has to offer.

I hope a the very least other fenders.Be nice to see different colours aswell ,or even skins that you could personalize. I think that would really sell.

Please tell me you saw the Telecaster or Jazz Bass?

There may have been a telecaster there, but I didn't see the jazz bass. I did however see what I believe is a Jackson King V. This is cool because that means they will likely be using some of the other Fender brands like Jackson and Squire. I snapped a pic, I wish I would have taken more of the others.

I guess we'll at least see Jackson considering the Rock Band logo slapped on it.
Not to sure I'd want Squier though, cause isn't it just there to make Fender designs cheaper?

Essentially, yes. However, guitarists will tell you that they have their own sound, and while most prefer the Fender, some would rather use their Squire. Then again, that might just be what poor guitarists say to make themselves feel better, lol

...I still don't think theres much point to having it in Rock Band, cause I'm hoping the ingame guitar doesn't change the sound of guitar parts ;)

Yes, but I would imagine that those that play with a real Squire would love to be able to rock out on the same guitar in-game. I do however, think it would be better to concentrate on the other different-looking guitars though.
