I don't know if this was ever answered, but a the wal-mart manager meeting they had a mock up of a 4-way with GH3 and Rock Band on it. The Rock Band box was as thick as 5 GH3 boxes, as wide as 1 GH3 box and as tall as 1 GH3 box. Like so:

again, sorry if it's been answered

I think the box is wider than the Gh Box for everything to fit and its 20 pounds

Apples is officially an unofficial HMXer now, as we try to work the words "package" and "awesome" into just about every sentence.

I think it's gonna be smaller than you guys expect, definitely not 20 lbs if the weight of the instruments themselves have anything to do with it.
Game itself is less than a lb, guitar is like 3-4lbs max MAX
drums maybe 5lbs, mic less than a lb. 20 lbs? LOL maybe!

What else can I say... that's awesome! :) :D ;)
And yes, the various connotations of the term "awesome package" were not lost on me when making the original comment. ;)

a while back when they first posted the upc code or whatever, the dimensions attached to the bundle were: 31.5in x 15.8in x 11.4in
is that consistent with the GH boxes?

Man, if you have a really dirty mind you'll know how wrong that sounds. Anyway, From what I hear the guitar really isn't that heavy...wouldn't imagine those drums be that heavy either and you can pretty much rule out the mic and game. Maybe around... 10-15lbs? Couldn't imagine it being 20lbs though.

I'd say 15 is about right. I'd be happy if it was 20 too. As long as the other 5 lbs. are only bubble wrap.

Being an Official Unofficial HMX'er dont you think your word "Awesomosity" should be used a bit more in your vocabulary? Or is that only a Sean thing...

I don't know, the guitar is larger and felt heavier than the GH controllers (in a very good way). I didn't actually pick up the drums, so I can't be sure about those, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was up to 20lbs.

That's why you get ya there one of dem big mud swampers! YEEEEEEEE HAWWWWWW. Kidding, I just hope it's not raining on the 23rd because I'll be kinda screwed, unless I can fit the precious in the cab of the truck then I'm good. Or... what would be really awesome is what someone said in another thread. I could just take out the guitar and pretend i'm playing it... and smack it on the drums and such. Probably would have to go buy another one but it'll fit :D

When you look at the game in terms of its size in relation to its cost, I'm sure retailers aren't thrilled to selling something so large for so little. I hope they decide to keep up with demand, rather than keeping their inventory of the game small to save space for other items.

Stores have plenty of space for storing the game, it doesnt have to all be out on display taking up space.
Gaming stores anyway, not sure about the bigger stores that sell other crap.

I think you've got that backward, Nick. At least in the States, the Gamestops are cheap little outfits that have almost zero space for inventory. That's a big reason why they capped pre-orders on GH2, and they tend to stock few games in excess of pre-orders.
The Wal-marts and Best Buys however, have massive amounts of space. I remember seeing pictures of GH2 stacked to the ceiling in the back of Best Buy before launch.

lol, yeah, not like that in Australia. Places like Wal-Mart etc dont give a crap about gaming. With the introduction of gaming stores they've lost sales and prefer to stock other junk.

I'm actually far more concerned about fighting the crowd on the 23rd. I'm not so sure it was a smart move to put this game out on Black Friday. Normally when a game like this launches you just have to compete with fellow gamers, but not Black Friday. When you come strolling up to one of the stores at 5am, you're likely going to encounter a huge swarm of people waiting outside a store that doesn't open for another hour.
For those that work a regular 9-5 job, it's probably going to be difficult to find. You can bet that Rock Band is going to top many kids' Christmas lists this year.

They better deliver it, or there'll be hell to pay.

Or they could in case it in cement and you'll have to find a way to open it, and a bomb will be inside of the package so if you don't open it in time it'll explode inside the cement sending chunks of gray hate flying towards old women and decapitating small children... Just a possibility, don't get your hopes up :)

I agree that releasing it on black friday is a dumb idea. The only thing this is going to do is hurt us gamers. If they were to release this game on the 20th like originally planned, all of the hardcore Rock Banders would be able to get it and be out of line and out of the masses when it comes to black friday. Its not like the game isnt going anywhere. It will still be there for all the mom's to buy their spoiled kids for xmas. I think its a horrible idea from the fan point of view.

Upon further reflection, the game will likely be released at midnight many places. From my experience working retail, the Black Friday sales don't begin until 5 or 6am. If you're lucky you might find somewhere that will sell it to you at midnight. I suggest calling stores and asking in the weeks leading up to the launch.

That is not a bad idea. I am going to check around to a few places and see if they will be able to sell it. Maybe the 24 hour walmarts would be able to sell it at midnight. I will post back if i find anything.

Yes, and at the places I've worked, that usually means the hottest stuff is long gone by then. Hopefully there are enough different places to pick it up that you won't have too much trouble finding it.

I really hope Gamestop will have a midnight launch for it...doubtful, but I already have it paid in full. Plus, I have some in-store credit to use on another RB strat because it was paid off when the bundle was listed as $199. ;)
