i was excited for guitar hero 3 to come out and was majorly disappointed since there were "fake" notes added just to make the game difficult.
i recently saw a video of rock revolution i think it is called.
What this thread is about is why I like Guitar hero 1 / 2 and Rock Band.
As well as the advantage harmonix has over these other companies and their products.
With GH 1/ 2, it really felt like you were onstage and were playing the actual song. Gh 3 lost that feeling somehow. i'm no harmonix fanboy but they do know what they are doing. They are able to put the "spirit / soul" of music in their games.
With rockband, same thing. everyone is rocking out on stage realistically, energetically, etc. It still has that same feeling that you're "there" on stage.
viewing rock revolution, yes, they had their rockers on stage, but it didn't have "that feeling".
Other companies may be able to spit out a product for some money, but none have the vision that harmonix has which is to help people experience the joy of playing music. That is the main advantage to HMX's games and why i love their games over the others.
I remember reading an interview from Alex and he was talking about how each employee must be in a band, must play in live gigs often, and must practice too.
I am sure none of the other companies do this.
That's why harmonix's games are top notch above the rest in my book. you can feel and experience the difference.
