I'm definitely going to each one of Pittsburgh's 4 dates this weekend (Thurs - Sun). For those that haven't gotten (and won't get) the opportunity to demo this game, are there any things you guys want me to investigate? Anything gameplay elements or peripheral features...?

Nothing to crazy (i.e. bringing GH2 guitar to test compatibility).

how about which songs they'll let you play on the taping stage? from what i've seen/heard the options are only kiss/soundgarden/jovi/faithnomore. ironically those are the 4 i'm least anxious to play on the entire list. so basically: do they bend to your will? cuz i KNOW i've seen some bowie and sabbath in the 'tour highlights" videos and i want in on the secret. thanks in advance!

I'm inclined to think this list is referring to the demo station songs and not the stage songs.

Tour Set List

A real rocker always comes prepared to give a great show! Think ahead of time about which great song from the list below you want to perform on the Rock Band stage.

* NirvanaIn Bloom
* JetAre You Gonna Be My Girl
* Bon JoviWanted Dead or Alive
* Faith No MoreEpic
* RushTom Sawyer
* Stone Temple PilotsVasoline
* Black SabbathParanoid
* The PixiesWave of Mutilation

* SoundgardenBlack Hole Sun
* David BowieSuffragette City
* The HivesMain Offender
* KISSDetroit Rock City
* Red Hot Chili PeppersDani California
* WeezerSay It Ain't So
* The Clash Should I Stay or Should I Go

However, someone in a previous impression indicated "Dani California" is an audition song.

Yes, I'm interested in exactly how (and where) the mic connects. I've read many different and conflicting observations and am just curious at this point.

Thanks

Dani California
Detroit Rock City
Black Hole Sun
Wanted Dead or Alive
Epic

only songs that are allowed for the audition, although you can play whatever on the stage when no one is auditioning...

The Mic connects to the USB hub just like all the instruments, except it uses a controller for going through the menu because the mic itself has no buttons on it...

I tried that too, they only let me audition for one, but like i said...you CAN play all of them when no one is auditioning...I think in total i spent about 2 and a half hours on the stage, although i only did one audition song...

I'm going every day for 4 days though, so that should give me a pretty good chance to do that.

I'm sorry can you explain this, I'm completely ******ed. Your saying the mic plugs into the usb, directly in? Then how does the controller factor in? Does it connect into the controller, which then goes into the usb, or do they somehow occupy the same slot for the game? Maybe the controller is connected for that player, and the mic just picks up any noise and sets it to the person whose using the mic, so It's never really set to any player! I think I just answered my own question haha. Thanks

While playing bass, does the whammy bar raise or lower the pitch of the note? Just a little pet peeve of mine, I'd love if you could check it for me :D

Sneak in a GH3 controller and see if it's compatible so people will stop asking that question. :) :) ;)

Edit: ALthough I was being a smartass this is actually possible. For anyone with a tour date after Oct. 8th, sneak in a copy of the new Tony Hawk disc, load up the GH3 demo, and see if it is compatible with the stratocaster. I think it would be in the interest of rhythm game fans everywhere to have some definitive evidence on what they can expect in the way of compatibility.

Surely a staff member at these tour events could be convinced to help resolve this hot-button overly asked question.

Exactly, this is the part I'm confused about. How is this even possible? I've also read the mic 'plugs' into the controller (I'm assuming the headset jack). This makes alot more sense to me.

So, if you could still take a minute of your time and re-check it out once you're there that'd be much appreciated.

Much thanks

If God gave two ounces of common sense to the people producing the Rock Band Tour, they do not allow physical access to the disc-loaders in the 360s or debug stations or whatever it is they have set up there.

Otherwise, there would be copies of the Rock Band demo all over E-Bay and Bittorrent as we speak.

I actually brought in my modded Gibson XG (yes, I call it XG for a reason) and they told me I couldn't plug it in. I guess Fender would have a fit if anyone snapped a picture of a Gibson on the bus.

The microphone is literally just a USB microphone. It's not a controller in any way. So if you want to think of things in strictly game controller sense:

Guitarist: Guitar Controller
Drummer: Drum Set Controller
Bassist: Guitar Controller
Vocalist: Standard XBox 360 Controller

In addition to the controllers, a USB microphone is plugged into the console that the game uses for sampling the vocalist. The microphone is a peripheral, not unlike a web cam or a keyboard is a peripheral. And for interacting with menus, the vocalist uses his or her controller.

I just had an image of people shouting "Up...down...select song!" into their microphones instead of using a controller and lqtm.

I didn't get a chance to investigate the hub further, but there is clearly a 3.5mm jack in it. I meant to go back and look into it further. Here's a clip where I zoom in on it a bit. Fast-forward to about 2:30

I spoke too soon and they canceled the first 3 dates. :( But yeah, I'll try and ask if they know anything how the Unison Phrase works and what it does, maybe ask about if there's ways to deploy Overdrive for drums/vocals like you can guitar without doing it at the predetermined times.

OK, I could've sworn I read/saw/heard an interview with Alex (or someone else at HMX) the bundle was shipping with some sort of mic-controller adapter? Anybody else remember that or was I halucinating?

I'm hoping it comes with something, because I just completed the infrastructure build for my RB space and it allows for wireless (or a mic connected to a wireless device) only now.

Otherwise I'm looking at no VOX at my place, because to rewire everything now would be more additional cash than I was looking to spend in the first place.

The adapter is for 360 headsets to plug into the game peripherals.
