any chance of a Rock Band demo on xbox live for those of us who can't make it to a stage demo, no drums but we can play guitar if you bought GHII

Okay, for one, this is the WORST place to post this. Did you even BOTHER to read that it said "Announcements" as in, NEWS by the forum MODS.
And secondly, I doubt it, we don't even have the drums, the mic wouldn't hold up to how the Rock Band Mic will. And the guitar doesn't give a feel for how it should be played, it would be a bad example for how the game should be played, people would be turned off by it. Just wait.

Actually, I'd love to get my hands on a demo that allowed guitar and vox, with a little character creation in there. And of course it won't really be representative of the game as a whole: it's a demo.
As far as if it actually makes sense for HMX, that's something else entirely, but I'd play the demo.

I'm with you, I'd play it. But no way HMX releases it. Nothing to gain, everything to lose. It's not a guitar game, so to have GH2 noobs who haven't done their research hop on and give Rock Band a whirl just to say "Meh, it's just a Guitar Hero copy" does them no good. Fact is, the drums are their bread and butter. Until those drums are in the wild, there's no reason to release a demo. RB2, maybe, but not this one.
And for those of us who have done our research, well, they really don't need to do anything else to reach out to us. We're already desperate and pathetic, feeding on whatever scraps they decide to give us. o.O

I completely disagree... with the Guitar Hero II Xplorer and a headset mic you have 3/4 of the game possible. Hell, the game is 1/2 guitar controlled and I would argue is 90% of what the average gamer is looking for. With GH3 shipping with a demo and much greater brand awareness a RB demo would only help educate the masses as to how the two products differ.

I know, but it doesn't show it's difference between this and GHIII, they would just expect a Mic option. Not knowing the drums, better Mic, And amazing Strat. People would naturally go to GHIII, because it has more songs.

Plus it's impossible for them to release a demo on the PS3 and I think Harmonix wants to keep the DLC, pricing, demos and such as equal for both systems as possible.

Ok, I'm sorry, it was a noob mistake I am new to the forums (in case you couldn't tell), but regarding the demo, they don't need to make it because they are getting great coverage and awareness from magazines to websites to everywhere, I'd say most people who are interested in purchasing rock band have heard about it by now, but a demo would be really cool. Only 2 months away, its so hard to wait.

Everyone I know that has played a demo of a game, base it on that demo. More than likely a demo of rock band would suck because you don't get everything in the game (yeah, i know because it's a demo). And i'd hate for my friends or anyone else's friends to be turned off of rock band just because the demo failed horribly, which it would. I'd still play it though, even if it did suck.

What now you want another music rhythm game demo you're already getting a GH3 demo with THPG.. and we dont get it and besides whats the point without the full game experience.

Of course it would be nice to have a demo but I doubt they would take the chance, as we don't have the instruments and tons of people would thus find it stupid.

Rock Band hype is all about 1 thing. The drums. I know, they talk about the whole group experience and all that jazz, but as far as general public perception is concerned, this game is all about rocking out with those drums. Without the drums, it's just a bad GH copy as far as anyone is concerned who isn't a member of these forums.
Of course I know this isn't true. Of course we all know what merits the game has beyond the drums. But we're not talking about us. General public perception is a wiley mistress...
Anyway, back to the short answer. I'd love a demo, but it shouldn't happen. More importantly, it won't happen.

Maybe just a character creator teaser? You make a character (or 4) and then you can watch the band play a song. Of course, demos like this take dev time (which might be non-existent right now).

I'd love to have a demo to rock out to til NOV 23. However having played the full experience on tour It really would just confuse people or set the wrong tone for what the game delivers. I literally watched newcomers walk up and slowly get it. after 5 minutes they had smiles on their faces.

This is a pretty good idea. Yah, doubt they'd have the manpower to pull it off, but it would be pretty sweet to build a band then watch the song animations, w/ or without notecharts...would definatley satisfy my demo desires...

I doubt there will be any demos of this game simply because all the instruments (namely the drum) will not be able to be used yet, so it would be a poor version of the game.

I think a demo would rock I know that the full RB xp wouldn't be felt (coz no drums) but lets face it HMX are asking people to pay $170 for the bundle (which most gamers will think is a lot even if u get 4 games in 1) but it could pull in so many new gamers into the whole music game genre. Most of my friends think that type of game has nothing to offer so most wont go out & drop that much cash on a game but the ones who have tried it (under protest) had a blast & even my brother-in-law went out got a 360 & a copy of GH2 coz it was so good. People say HMX don't have anything to gain I think they have to much to lose by not releasing a demo, it wouldn't even need to be a big demo: no live, just 2-3 songs with lead, base, vocals they could even let us use a control pad for the drums (ok that would suck but you could still have 4 friends round to rock out) & maybe a very basic custom feature just for us to try. Sales of rock band would go up for sure & I know a lot more people would feel happy to pay $170 for the bundle. GO ON HMX not all of us can get to the tour give a little to the fans PLZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ :)

Why couldn't they release a demo on PS3? We gotz the Playstation Store online and if it's not being able to use a guitar that you're talking about, GH3 will be out in 3 1/2 weeks or so, almost a month before Rock Band....

This topic has been brought up before, and I think hmxsean or someone in an interview actually mentioned it.
A RB demo would only be able to be played mainly with an old GH2 control, thus allowing you only to play guitar. This would be a HUGE turnoff, because it would be misleading people into thinking it's just like another GH game. They especially don't want us to demo their game using another game's control anyway.
This game is all about the multiplayer and playing in a BAND, they want us to experience it that way. It's all or nothing.

Agreed, you can't even begin to get a real feel for this game by just playing the guitar. When you sit down at the drums and rock out with some friends, it's a completely different experience. Almost makes you forget about that other game that's coming out later this month. What was it called again? ;)

Still, I think a demo is a good idea & makes alot of sense for a few reasons:
1- That other game which u all know we are going to go out & buy anyway is out 1month b4 RB (so we can see just how they compare even if it is only the guitar) & it is rumored to have a demo out b4 release.
2-Price is going to be a big issue if you are going to only get one of the games the different price between the two will factor in that (me personally, don't buy a game unless I have played a demo or know the game is really good & that's with normally priced games).
3- I don't see why a demo would only be for guitar when the 360 headset can be used as a mic, an extra pad could be used for a bass or even drums.
I would have thought more of the members on here would love to get a little taste of what RB had to offer before paying out $170 for the bundle maybe you just have more money than sense!!!!!!

I think people just realize it doesn't make sense for them to release a demo. As a peripheral-based game, it's a lot harder to push out a demo that gives a good feeling for the final product. Add the increased development effort, and it doesn't seem likely.

I think most of the wants for a demo are seeded in our deep anticipation and impatience with the Rock Band release. We know a demo logistically wouldn't work, but it'd mean we get to play with it some early so why not. :P
I agree with most people that have said it's a peripheral game, and you probably wouldn't want to give the wrong impression of the game with a demo. I think we all just need to suck it up and wait, it'll be worth it. :P

if people want to demo it, they'll probably head to best buy. the real appeal is going to be people playing together and having fun. so they dont need a demo as word of mouth, advertising, and seeing it played in full at stores will be pretty convincing.

Hey, I'm just as excited to play as the next guy. And I'm pretty sure everyone else saying the demo isn't gonna happen would be just as excited as you if a demo DID suddenly come out.
It comes down to this. If your question is "In fantasy land, wouldn't it be super if a Demo came out and we got to play the game early?" Then all our answers would be yes.
However, the question we're answering is "So here in reality land, do you guys think a demo would/should come out?" The answer to THAT qeustion is no, absolutely not. Don't take it personally though, it's just business. ;)

I really hope they set up entire stations (2 guitar, drums, and mic) in stores because that would sell so many units, and would turn people onto the game, rather than turn them off (which a guitar only demo would, sadly). Hell, if they could do it for GH 2, they can absolutely do it for RB!
