Hi all, just wanted to ask some questions about BWT to help prepare for officially starting it on Friday...
1, I will be on Guitar, My Girlfriend on drums, and my brother wants to play bass. If we start BWT as a trio, can the bassist (or any instrument) drop in/out at anytime. Or do we then need to play the 3 of us at all times?
2, we wont have a vocalist, but occasionally we might wanna have a stab at it, can you drop in/out of that role?
3, Can you play through BWT on different difficulties (I.e a Hard Guitar & Medium Drums)?
4, Is the kick pedal enabled on normal mode? (I think I read somewhere before that it only comes into play on Hard & Expert)
5, Can I use a character I create in BWT to play through solo as well?
Appreciate any answers guys, cheers!

1. One of you needs to be the leader, and as such must always be present but the others can drop in and out
2. Yes, just select a singer on the band lineup screen
3. Yes, you pick the difficulties for each instrument before each song or setlist
4. Yes, but it features way less than on higher difficulties
5. Yes, any guitarist can have a solo tour and so on and so on.

This answers my question too I think. Thanks.
So if I am the 'leader' in BWT, then if it's just me and my son, we can play, but then when the wife wants to join in, she can just pop in, without me having to make a 3 man seperate band?
Cool :)

I would recommend making your guitarist the leader. As mentioned already, the leader must always be in the band. If your leader is a guitarist, that basically means that they can be one of two roles. Guitarist of bassist.
So, if you were the leader (on guitar), and you wanted to try singing, your brother could play as your character on bass.
That's usually the way my friends and I get around the problem.
The only way this would cause any problems is if only two of you are playing and you wanted to sing and play drums.
I'd just create a different band (you can have an unlimited amount, to my knowledge...)
2, we wont have a vocalist, but occasionally we might wanna have a stab at it, can you drop in/out of that role?
Band members can jump in and out at any time. The only one who can't jump out is the band leader. If this character is not in the band, you can't do the tour.
When you add characters to your band who weren't in it at the creation, you can go to the band roster. You can add or replace anyone besides the band leader. [You can also switch non-leader characters on the same instrument. So if you wanted to play drums, you could change it to your character... Assuming your girlfriend is not the leader.]
3, Can you play through BWT on different difficulties (I.e a Hard Guitar & Medium Drums)?
Yes, you can. But it's best to have everyone at least on Medium.
You can't "complete" the Band World Tour if someone is on easy.
If someone is on Medium, you can't play every setlist (but you can still complete it and play the endless setlist).
No matter what, it'll count as the whole band playing on the lowest common denominator. So let's say you can rock out on Expert guitar, and your girlfriend mastered expert drums... But your brother can't grasp that fourth button and plays on easy bass, your whole band will be playing on Easy, and you'll have all the restrictions that come with it.
My friends and I never really get past medium (well, I play on expert XD) but it doesn't take away from anyone's fun.
4, Is the kick pedal enabled on normal mode? (I think I read somewhere before that it only comes into play on Hard & Expert)
Unfortunately (Or fortunately, depending on how you look at it), the kick pedal is on every difficulty. The difference between easy and medium is basically just more kick pedal, though.
The person who told you that must've meant it only becomes difficult around Hard and Expert. ;]
The foot pedal probably won't be the problem on Medium, but it gets pretty difficult when you first start hard.
5, Can I use a character I create in BWT to play through solo as well?
Yes, in fact I'd recommend doing that first. You can only play songs in random setlists that someone in the band has completed (unlocked) before. It also counts if you complete them in the BWT. So if you don't want to be stuck playing Say it Ain't So twenty times in random setlists (along with any DLC you have), it's best to do a solo tour first.
In addition, characters that you create for BWT can be in more than one band, even being the leader of more than one band. But if you delete a character, it also deletes any bands that the character is the leader of, so keep that in mind.
Choose your leader wisely!
(Oh, and if you ever want to play BWT alone, make the leader the vocalist. That way you can play guitar/bass and sing, or play drums and sing. =D)

In simplist form, only the band leader and 1 other person in your band has to be thier.

Thanks guys, all excelent answers! You've inspired one more question for me though, so heres a hypothetical!
3 of us are playing, we designed the band, it looks the tads, Ok, now my brother is off to work, 2 of us are going to play, he drops out. Does a new 'character' take his place or does A.I simply control his character?
Likewise, even though we won't have anyone playing vocals, do we get a say in what the vocal character looks like dancing about on stage? IS there one even!?

A random AI character takes the place of any loose position in your band.
And I'm glad I could be of assistance.

Actually as you progress through BWT (when you get a certain amount of stars I believe, but am not 100% sure), it kicks you up a difficulty notch. Meaning the option to choose Easy will be greyed out. Eventually medium gets greyed out as well. Hard used to as well, but the patch fixed it so you can finish on hard without moving up to expert if you don't want to.

So does that mean when theres 2 of us in the band theres gonna be 2 Random strangers we cant control the look of joinging the band? Thats a bit bent. Never mind.
As for the Easy to Medium to Hard progression that sounds fair to me. Thanks for the feedback again!

Yeah the computer controlled players are picked at random. Each time you play they will be different characters that the computer uses.
I wish there was an option to design or have the Computer pick from your already existing created characters for the other slots.
As some of the choices REALLY don't fit for the style of band you might be going for.
