I got Rock Band around the beginning of March. I've drummed in real life for awhile, so immediately I became very interested in the drums. I went out and bought pads, a drum throne, a new pedal, and even some new sticks for my Rock Band drums. (QM set btw)
The first pads I got - some cheap foam ones - weren't good enough, so I spend some more money on gum rubber.
The gum rubber was great! Until, about two or three weeks ago, my blue pad started to suck. It no longer picked up all the notes. Slowly, over a period of a few days, it picked up less and less. I took the gum rubber off and it seemed to work much better... but after a few hours of playing, even without pads, only about half the notes would register.
Okay, so RMA... Get my new set, get it up and running, put my gum rubber on...
...and the blue pad drops about 25% of the notes. (Still a QM set.) Without the pads, it picks up more (maybe like 90-95%) but not all of them.
(FYI - I'm testing "picking up notes" by going into practice mode, selecting Won't Get Fooled Again, and picking just the organ intro section. This is the closest thing to "free play" drums in the game. No notes, so you can hit the drums at will and all the hits will register)
So what do you suggest I do? RMA my replacement set? This is getting pretty old... nevermind that I'm going to need to buy yet another set of drum pads (or replacement adhesive).
I wish there were some sort of (reasonably priced) "premium" set out there. I've spend about $50 on pads and $80 on a bass pedal so far... not to mention I'm about to RMA my second set of drums... in three months... which is pretty frustrating.
Anyway, what do you think? RMA this set or just buy a replacement sensor for my blue pad? There's a company that is selling them and it'd be significantly less work for me. Thoughts?
