MS selling old consoles as 'new' - buyers beware

French website logic-sunrise who is usually pretty clued up on these things indicates that Microsoft's new 199 Euro's Xbox 360 packs with 2 games and 2 wireless controllers are in fact OLD machines. After opening 10 of them, they found that the machines have been converted to new and all have non-falcon motherboards, old Hitachi 47 or Samsung MS25 drives and the repair center sticker on them. They suggest that you do not buy these packs and if you want a brand new machine, then fork out 199 Euro's for the arcade pack or 269 Euro's for the premium pack.

Cant say im suprised either,these are the people that "fixed" my first 360 and shipped me back one that had the red rings soon as i plugged it in.Funny thing is im on my 3rd 360,i know people who are on number 4 or 5,and yet MS downplays how serious or how many consoles are bad.Yet everyone knows the truth.

Well they have to do something with all those ones that get sent in for "repair". I'm on my fifth and now it's giving me disc errors but I'm sure it's not under warranty.

Y'know, normally when so many people all get the same overheating problems... you'd think they'd send out recalls on them. They only did that to the power plugs only because it could start a fire and kill you. And so they let us go on using their product, knowing full well that there are parts in it that can cause serious damage to the system. When it comes to the xbox360, we can't treat it like Windows and say "maybe they'll fix it in the next service pack". But you know whenever they "fix" one thing, they end up breaking something else. Blah.

All these problems is why I like my PS3

SCEA and SCEJ are both great companies where as SCEE is meh, and IDK anymore about that branch due to the "Playboy" ad!

The only good thing about SCEE is Studio Liverpool :)

Of course, from my standpoint, I think Microsoft is in their rights to get rid of their old product this way, but the consumer is also in their right to show them ill will at the gesture, and probably should continue to press them to make sure the warranties are honored. After all, they may need them.
