View Full Version : Is now a good time to release new songs?

I noticed that that other game confirmed another 17 songs today. The songs are the same as those that were "leaked" several weeks ago, but it made me wonder; is now a good time for RB to release a few more of their songs they've been saving? (Assuming, of course, they still have some in their back pocket that they've been waiting to throw down.)

To be clear, I'd like to see more songs for RB released, but I'm not demanding it. I merely thought it'd be a good time to rain on the other game's parade.

Example:

You've got Pat Benatar? Fantastic. We've got ________. Nice try. We win.

Just a thought.

They still have some more bonus songs to announce. Granted they probably won't please tons of people and be headlining songs, but I assume they would run off all those songs before they get into the 11 or so songs left on the main setlist.

I'm not sure it's even worth their time to announce the bonus ones. They're better left as just surprises, since nobody will likely know what they are.

Or just let the various bands announce that their song is included as a bonus song on their own websites or myspace pages (like a few have done), and that will work for the people who care about them.

Not that I don't care, because a few of them, at least, are always fun. It's just that I can't get excited about a song I've never heard (or that iTunes likely doesn't carry).

they only have like 10 or 11 songs or so left to announce, so they'll probably hold off on announcing them until the game is ready to be realeased (aka when the game goes gold and all the major game reviewers have the game) I wouldn't be suprised if they announced 2 or 3 songs later this week though. It seems like we get a little update of somesort weekly.

I'm betting we will get something closer to the end of next week, or when GHIII goes gold, which shouldn't be long now...

it would be nice to have some more in depth info on the gameplay modes, especially online...how it works and all that jazz...

IMHO a lot of the thunder has already been lost behind that other title because of the leaked setlist info. There isn't the element of OMG SURPRISE since those songs were all on a widely circulated, widely speculated list.

Therefore, I wouldn't deem it necessary to time a response right now. The time to strike is release week for the other game... because it could influence people to hold off on that purchase in lieu of Rock Band a few weeks later.

As a more "commercial" music listener, I think the "other game" has a fairly weak setlist. I think the GH II setlist was AWESOME and IMO, the new one just doesn't have the same sizzle. The Rock Band list, while smaller, has made me fairly excited and I can't wait for the game.

Now is a good time to talk DLC.

Songs, pricing, browsing, the nitty gritty.

This way they can talk pleny about the game without actually talking about the game.

Oh and bonus songs and less discussed features like venues and World Tour options. And that chat session they promised.

I would agree with you Xzyliac. DLC is my #1 concern... and at this point, it is a concern.

Is there ever a bad time to release new songs?

I want more DLC news.

They could blow away GH3 at this point.

DLC news foe either game would be great...but especially RB...

I completely agree with this statement.

You're right we need to know more about how is DLC going to work how are they going to handle the price , when are there going to be new songs/albums for downloads , can we buy just singles , Mature DLC perhaps ?

Same here. Since they talked it up to be such a huge and ambitious feature, I wanna get all the info on pricing, releases, etc.

As much as I want them to go nuts and divulge the rest of the songs, it would be best if they announced like 2 per week until the release date. Gain some momentum, get some people anxious for what the remaining songs are.

Exactly and there is still so much more about the game that they can give more detailed information on.

I think 3 more songs on disc and 1 thing for DLC. I say thing because it could be album, another Dead like agreement or just a couple of random songs.

Don't drop the biggest stuff yet though. Maybe just the final vocal track.

I remember hearing that they would be announcing more DLC in the weeks running up to the release date. I wish I had the source for that, but all this RB info we've gotten in the last month or so can leave a person a little dizzy.

So I would expect more on DLC announcements and game features (character creation, Band World Tour, etc.) before the remaining songs are unveiled.

Eh, I think they could release 1 of the final 10 songs each week leading up to Rock Band...it would leave them with four unannounced songs (perhaps the guitar final, vocal final, and others).

They could announce a big song and just make this whole GHIII announcement pointless.

Personally, I would hold off until about a week before "the other game" launches, then either announce the rest of the tracks, or the pricing for DLC. Either way, that would give people that are looking to buy one or the other a good reason to hold off for Rock Band.
