Mine means absolutely nothing. It was just a random thing that came to my mind.

A few of us talked about our names in a thread a while back.
This (http://www.rockband.com/forums/showthread.php?t=33565&highlight=screen+name+mean) one. Dave's is in here as well as Topper's and Moshuns and Daesanias, AZ's, PJ's, Apples, Howsh, Wolfee, and a bunch more. It kind of died though. Glad you brought us a new one, some of you kids have crazy screen names.
Here is what I said.
When I was younger I couldnt pronounce the first letter to every word. Dont know why...so I called myself Osh instead of Josh. Dont worry I learn how to talk correctly, but my friends called my Oshinator or OshMan. We dropped the Oshinator and my nick name has been "Osh" or "OshMan" ever since.
187 came from a sublime song, someone on x box live had OshMan already, so I added 187. It is cop-code for murder.

Actually, when I was in fifth grade, I LOVED drawing superhero comics. I usually drew a superhero by the name of Flamethrower, whose power is, well you do the math.
Second, I thought violence was "Haha, cool!" and told myself that if I ever got AIM (which my parents didn't want me to get) I would call myself Mr. Flamethrower.
I started RuneScape in sixth grade, and lo and behold, typed in mr.flamethrower, but it was too long! Oh noes!
I ended up shortening it to what it is now, mr flamethro

KampfVerein
05-20-2008, 09:46 PM
KampfVerein is an approximation in German of the phrase "Fight Club."
Early 2005, I had just seen the Fincher film and read the Palahniuk book, both nearly life-changing events, and was setting up my new Gmail account / general internet persona. I wanted something related, so I came up with the name using my rudimentary knowledge of other languages.
Needless to say, I've never had to deal with clones or impostors!

Mine is simple.
I used to be into the indy wrestling scene, and theres a wrestler (Now in the WWE, therfor he now sucks) called CM Punk, and its just a play on his name. Truth be told im not a raging drunk, and the CM has lots of different meanings!

I could have sworn I participated in that other thread, but I guess not. I've mentioned the meaning elsewhere, that's for sure. Anyway...
As we all know, Chrono Trigger is the best video game ever (aside from Rock Band of course, duh.) Well, it was my first RPG experience, and subsequently I fell in love with the game and RPGs as a whole.
About two years after I played the game, I was trying to think of a screen name for...well everything. After a while, I thought back to Chrono Trigger and thought of something that would be sweet as a reference. One of the basic premises of the combat system is teaming up your characters for Double and Triple Techniques. Dark Eternal is one of the super-awesome end game Triple Techs and thus, I used it for my name. The 37 is just my favorite number so that's all that's about really.
Here's a link to the attack in action. It's pretty OP. http://youtube.com/watch?v=Ix2GDRgcetU

Lame, I know. I use it for pretty much everything. I've often thought about changing it to something kewler. But everytime I've tried something different, I would instantly forget it, and go back to good old rgdrafting.
PS- I'm a draftsman....as in house plans. Basically, I'm an architect, minus the fancy piece of paper that allows me to call myself an architect! I could go back to school for a couple semesters and get my degree....but having it wouldn't earn that much more $$, so what's the use? :D

FallenAce
05-21-2008, 09:07 AM
Again, I will repost my original from September. I also reposted this in March, when we had this topic last.
I used to use Kaitou Ace for everything. Kaitou Ace was a character from an old manga... actually the manga series that was the precursor for sailormoon...
Kaitou Ace was the good guy who would come in and save the main girl/hero from certain doom. What made him cool was that he was actually also the bad guy... he was the one trying to kill her because he was conflicted from a past life where his love for her was unrequited. His alter-ego is a pop-star.
I just always thought that was a really cool idea for a character: being the charismatic good guy and also being the root of evil... I liked the duality of it and I felt like I could associate with it because I recognized the potential for both within myself.
A few years back, some things in my life changed and I felt like I "fell" similar to the idea of a fallen angel...
...hence: Fallen Ace. Kind of creepy when I type it all out like this.
Another layer of the onion that is FallenAce has been peeled back. (Good ol' Shrek.)
maitee1
05-21-2008, 11:10 AM
When I started doing the mmorpg thing, I needed a name and my last name is Quinn so the first iteration of my name was maiteekwin as in the Denzel Washington movie, but I am way cooler. When BF2 came out, I used it there as well, but everyone shortened to maitee. So I decided to change my name to maitee1 but everyone pronounces it with the "long a" sound versus the "my" sound as in mai tai.
I like it the because I am the Maitee1. :p
Der_Lex
05-21-2008, 11:25 AM
My name's a relic from my college days. I studied English and German, and since I was rather...erm...let's just say 'infamous' amongst both the student and teacher population, people would always know who you were referring to if you spoke about 'der Lex' ('der' being the German male definite article, and Lex being my actual name).
And remember what The Simpsons taught us, gang... 'No one who speaks German can be an evil man' ;)

So there is a Japanese song called Moonshine Dance by the band Access. And the way they sing it, it sounds kinda like "Moonshine Des!".. So I decided it was a right move to make that my name. I'm not an alcoholic or anything....
FatWilma
05-21-2008, 12:13 PM
Fat Wilma was a random nickname my friends and i came up with for this dude that sat at our cafeteria table in high school. he was neither fat nor was his name wilma, but it stuck really well. so well in fact, we decided to name our band after him, which led me to name my band in the game Fat Wilma, which leads me to my SN.
Wolfbeckett
05-21-2008, 12:28 PM
Well, Beckett comes from the game Vampire the Masquerade, he's my favorite character from it. He's sort of like a vampire archaeologist/scientist, he hunts the truth behind supernatural phenomena, plus he a Deadpan Snarker (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/DeadpanSnarker) to boot, which is my preferred kind of comedy and I always identify strongly with characters that exhibit this trait due to having it in ample supply myself. Plus he's just a simple badass, in VtM vampires are very very vulnerable to sunlight, it normally kills them in seconds, but Beckett once was able to run the length of a football field in full sunlight and recover from it.
The wolf part came about because the name Beckett alone is taken in a lot of places, thanks in no small part to the creep of the same name is the second and third Pirates of the Caribbean movies. So I had to add something, and one of Beckett's vampiric powers as a member of the Gangrel clan is to transform into a wolf.

The Japanese warship Moshun (孟春) was a warship of the Imperial forces during the Boshin war in Japan in 1868. She first participated to the Naval Battle of Miyako.
Build in England, she had been acquired by the fief of Saga, and then transferred on June 3, 1868 to the forces of the new Meiji government.

Sayburr
05-21-2008, 03:23 PM
It's a nickname I have had since about 1978.
Back when I was a young lad, barley old enough to be in puberty, I would often go "Burrrrrrrr, it shore is cold" whenever I got a chill. Well, it was also at this time I was hanging out with all the wrong people, you know, my classmates. Well, when I was a young'en of 12, it used to get pretty cold in the Tennessee mountains and there was a couple of friends talking about how cold it was. One of them said it was colder than a witch's *****, another said it was cold enough to freeze the balls off a brass monkey, a third said it was not cold [and pointing at me] until you hear him say burr.
So, they all started calling out to me to "say burr". Not knowing what was happening, I did to the amusment of all standing nearby. So, they started asking me to "say burr" often... Well, that broke me from saying burrrr when I was cold, but the nickname stuck and there are still people who 30 years later still call me "Sayburr".
I started using the nic online in '89 on the old bulletin boards of the time.

Ah, well, since I'm not being hunted down I might as well post mine.
You're on the right track, but wrong video game (though I have friends who play WoW so I'm aware of your post). It's a reference to a minor enemy in Mother 3 (the sequel to Earthbound).
The developer of the game kept a site showing the progress of the game (similar to what was done with Smash Bros. Brawl) and fans translated the text into English. Frosty Wolf was one of the random enemies you'd run into in random battles and I adopted the name as my net handle and used the picture of the Frosty Wolf as my avatar for a bunch of different sites. I did it kind of out of anticipation for the release of Mother 3 and kind of out of hope that it'd be released in the U.S. eventually, and it kind of started sticking as a nick name.
Random fact: I actually became friends with this girl because she saw my avatar and recognized that it was from Mother 3 and because of our mutual interest/anticipation of Mother 3 she started talking to me. I'd have never thought semi-obscure cult classic video games were a good way to meet women..

A buddy of mine always calls me "chico" (though, interestingly, he just says "buddy" or "pal" or whatever to anyone else)... playing video games, when we played baseball together, etc... so I've just gone with it when I sign up for various gaming sites... and the 76 is for my birth year... seemed simple enough...

Meh. I suppose Ill tell the lame story.
Zeleii, My little brother, and I were playing a Halo 3 map I made. We were having fun, and while Zeleii was following me, instead of assassinating me, he decided to pick up a turret I walked by and just literally overkilled me. So, I called him Cpt. Overkill, and I liked the name, so I decided to start using it.
Meh.

I'm a motorcycle freak. My last 3 bikes have all been Suzuki GSX-Rs (1996 750, 2001 1000, and 2007 750).
For those that don't know, "GSX-R" is usually written as "Gixxer" (pronounced how my current name is spelled), and I used that as my character name when I was playing Star Wars Galaxies...but people kept mispronouncing it (hard "G" rather than the "J" sound), so I respelled the name phonetically. Been using it ever since.

Well, frizzy_bj, you can have the thread...I'm too lazy to bump mine, so I might as well contribute to yours:
My PSN is nashphx13z, here's the significance behind it:
- "nash" is for the NBA player, Steve Nash
- "phx" is the abbreviation of Phoenix, the team Steve Nash plays for
- "13" is Steve Nash's jersey number
- "z" happened because nashphx13 was already taken on AIM, so I added a z...it's stuck with me ever since.

Mystlyfe is the name I've used for things since like 6th grade. I was kinda a mall goth back in the day, so I think it was supposed to be depressing or deep or something.
I created an account with that name, but I couldn't ever log back in for some reason (not banned, using the right password and everything). So I eventually gave up and created Mystlyfe77. 77 is the number of Ray Borque and Bobby Orr, two of the greatest defensemen to ever lace up their skates and hit the ice.

Mine comes from an old tongue-in-cheek pen and paper role playing game called In Nomine Satanis/Magna Veritas. Kobal was the Demon Prince of Dark Humor, the guy who'd only find the manhole gag funny if someone died, and laid down sharpened rakes for people to step on.
Since I've always been into gallows humor, it became my handle many, many years ago.

Dial 187 on a mother****ing cop!
Hahaha...I love that song! I haven't heard it in ages though!
Anywho, my last name is pronounced "bony", so bones has been a nickname of mine for forever. It's hard to get a s/n with the s though, so I switched it to a z (sometimes two).

Knucklesdude. Favorite Sonic the Hedgehog game character is Knuckles. The origin of dude? I asked my friend what I should do for a name after I had "Knuckles" already typed. He began his response with "Dude," and I said "brilliant!"
This happened at age 11 I believe and I'm paraphrasing because I don't remember that far.
Edit: Knuckles seemed like a good idea at the time because this happened when I registered to Sonic Zone Forums, my first forum site.
Regrets: Knucklehead, Krazydude, Kookiehead... you get the idea.

Deadman2112
08-23-2008, 05:52 AM
well I first got the nickname DeaD when I was 18 after my first tat
then later on in life during my first Marriage (lol man that sounds messed up :( )
anyway I was told (by her my "X" lol  ) that I was happily married
and coincidently I later found out that being married (to her) was the same as being dead and buried :p
we were also married by a judge and later I was hung by her jury
so hence the DeadmaN ;)
the 2112 was not intentional but it happens to the name of a rush album that just so happens to be a band that I like so I guess that part was done subconsciously
Rockox
01-18-2011, 10:48 AM
I'm bumping this as a tribute to Frizzy_bj. RIP
As described by a couple of my friends, a rockox is a type of metal hand sign. Where the typical metal sign ("the horns") consists of a fist with your index and pinky finger raised, a rockox is where both hands make a fist with both pinkies raised and you smash your fists together at the thumbs. It is 100 times more powerful than a metal sign and is strong enough to turn even the lamest of bands into rock n' roll gods.
Years ago when I needed an Xbox gamertag, I thought it would make a fun name and it's been my unofficial nickname ever since.

my screen name is a combination of my actual name, and a handle that i still use on some parts of the internet, "disconnectedsmile."
it's also due to the fact that i (used to) make it a point to not smile for photographs, and i was often told "CHARLIE, SMILE!"
madcapmatt
01-18-2011, 09:42 PM
My name was randomly generated when whatever name I wanted to use as my GT was already taken. Back when I first started playing 360, I mostly played shooters and driving games. The title suited my play-style and I liked the way it sounded, so it stuck.
war_lord
01-18-2011, 10:24 PM
I could've sworn I'd posted in this thread before in 2008, but I suppose it must've been nash's PSN/Gamertag thread instead. Anyway, my handle is just an old relic from my earliest days on the internet way back the mid-1990's when I regularly played shooter and strategy games online. I still even have an email address with it that I've regularly used for over 15 years as well. My PSN version includes an 83, which is my birth year.
It's not very clever and I've thought about changing it since I rarely ever play FPS's anymore (though it still works for RTS's, which I still enjoy playing fairly regularly), but I just stick with War_Lord since I've used it for so long.

SMAP was considered too short of a name, which is what I normally use for my usernames, so I did Hi I'm SMAP. SMAP itself is an anagram of the word SPAM made up up by my dear friend Mutated.
Dumbest decision I ever made on these forums.

Perfxion is the name of the band I was using in RB2 when I joined this forum. The name comes from some graffiti tagging I saw on a train in NYC. Before I started using this I was going sign up with normal board name: "Antrocka" my DJ name I used back in the day.

When I was in grade 8, this kid in my class was drawing a comic based on our classmates and Star Wars. I was the Princess Leia equivalent and since my name is Jessica, I was Princess Jessa. It become my first screen name and email address, and now I use it half the time when needing a username. xD

Mine's fairly obvious ;)
I used to be big fans of both Metallica and Megadeth, still like them both, but not as much as I used to.

UntilWeHaveFaces is the name of RED's 3rd studio album. Well, it's titled Until We Have Faces and I'm very very excited for the album RED is one of my favorite christian rock bands (along with Skillet of course).
I like RED, when is the new album due out?
I kinda like Pillar and Thousand Foot Krutch better as far as Christian rock is concerned, but RED is good too. Definitely will check the new album out.

With what I've heard so far. It sounds better than Innocence & Instinct. According to Randy, it's heavier too.
Nice, as long as they keep kicking out some nice Drop B riffage, I'll be happy. :p

Here are the only 2 songs I've heard so far.
Feed The Machine (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=emZ-yssq9yY)
Faceless (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MJwegGUw_P8)
The beginning of "Faceless" has a feel of "Don't Stay" by Linkin Park.
It does kinda sound like LP for a little bit and it looks like most of or all of the album has leaked already.
Sounds good though from what I've heard so far. Gotta check out the rest later.

My screen name on here comes from a "fake" screen name I used to have. Back in the days of middle school, there was this instant messenger called AIM. And EVERYONE had one. Except for guess who. Due to high amount of peer pressure, when asked if I had one, I replied yes, and said it was seven11, which was the first thing that came to my mind. I never had an aim. (Until now) (and no its not seven11) I couldn't think of anything else when making this account, so I used it.

Mine is my old character from Vampire: The Masquerade Tabletop RPG
We were asked to play ourselves (hate when they do that) but I didn't want to use my real name as a character so once I was made a vampire, certain events in the story earned me the name. (It is said a young vampire vs a werewolf is certain death)
I also use Corian in RPG videogames such as Warcraft, Final Fantasy XI it's my real name mixed with my favorite Jedi -Cory + Corran Horn-

I would think mine's pretty obvious, but in case it needs explanation:
I am most certainly one of (not THE, because I know of a few people a lot more hardcore than me) the world's biggest Who fans. I have over 2,500 unique tracks on my Ipod, over 200 CDs, over 250 Vinyl (includes 12" and 45s), over 50 DVDs and have seen them at every Ontario show since 2002.
