Other than the release date (Dec. 10th) and the price tag ($159.99), is there any other information about the PS2 version? Or any idea when more updates might be coming?
I was originally planning on buying a 360 when this game came out, but I just plain don't have an extra $600 to get a console and the bundle, not to mention the extra ~$75 for a second guitar. Although I know I'm going to be missing out on the DLC, I'm just happy to actually be getting the game. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that things won't be cut outside of the DLC.
Anyways, just curious to see if anyone has heard anything else, or if HMX wants to drop in and add their 2 cents ;)
Cheers!

I got some info from Harmonix when I interviewed John, but he later told me that some of it might have been incorrect, so I had to leave it out. :(
If I get a chance to talk with him again, I'll ask.

Dude. Honestly: My Xbox 360 is my best friend (that I paid 400 for). It is really great piece of hardware and the lineup of games coming out soon will give you something to play for a dang long time. Go for it! Take out some loans :P

It would be interesting to know if the hardware is the same and would be compatible across systems. That way people with PS2's could get Rock Band, then just have to recopy the core disc in order to play it on a new system. They could keep their investment in the instruments.

I hadn't really thought of that aspect. I doubt that your disc would work for the PS3 game for obvious reasons. However, if you could just purchase the Rock Band disc for PS3 and re-use all of your instruments, that would be sweet!

Guitars have been confirmed as compatible between PS2/3, I would assume the USB mic and drums would be as well.

Thanks for the input, everyone.
Believe me, I wouldn't mind throwing down some cash for the 360, I just don't have that much to spare right now. As it is, I had to convince the wife to let me buy Metroid Prime 3 for my Wii. Plus, it's hard to justify spending $600+ for a game when I could have the game for $160. As long as the only thing I'm missing out on is the DLC, I'm cool with that. I probably wouldn't even use the game for online, anyways, so that's not a loss for me.
So, anything heard through the grapevine, I would love to read about it.

The way I do it is set up a gaming section in my budget. If I have enough to get what I want when it's released, I get it...if not, I'll rent it or just wait.
Games or systems are not worth compromising your rent or grocery money.

Wait, what?
You'd rather eat or have shelter over rocking out?
For shame.

Is this is North America it's being released in December? Any news on a Wii version, other than "Absolutely" ??

I'm pretty sure the last thing that's been said about the Wii is that they are working on a version, but there is no guarantees yet. I have a feeling it will be out, just not until '08 sometime. Would be interesting to see what changes they make.
And not to beat a dead horse, but has anyone else heard anything new about the PS2 version?
