Maybe it's because we don't have a lot of info about them yet but I think having 40 venues is pretty amazing when you think about it. GH only had 6,GH 2 had 8,GH 80's had 6 and GH 3 will have 9 (or maybe 8?). Rock Band has 40. That was at one point a venue per song. Hope we'll get to see them all before the game comes out.
What made me think about it was playing PGR 4 and being so impressed with Shanghai I was wondering if it'd be in RB or if there'd be any outdoor places to play, cause well it doesn't matter where it is if you're inside.

I didn't realise PGR 4 was out... I'll have to check it out. /random

Wow, 40 venues, I didn't know that!
It would be really cool if there were any outdoor places in it, like big festivals (Woodstock? xD) but the indoor stuff I've seen already looks great so I'm happy either way.

I think there will only be like, maybe 8 venues to start with (5 songs per venue). But then, you can unlock secret venues by doing certain things. That sounds like a good idea to me. Like, get a 1,500,000 score on Highway Star on Expert to get the "Moving Cars" venue.

That sounds pretty logical to me. Maybe not "big scores" but maybe earning "fame points" to unlock venues... I like that idea.

Well there's 12 home towns to choose from at the start. I spose whatever place u choose might effect what order they're unlocked in.

Yeah I think about that alot.
This pretty much guarantees a lengthy World Tour mode that's alot more than playing a setlist.

If you think about it, they had to add a whole bunch of venues. With all the DLC they're promising on, we should end up with a TON of songs. But, if there were only your standard 8 venues, then you'd just be playing on the same old places, over and over. By including so many venues, it can help the game stay fresh with the addition of all those DLC songs...

Yea I remember hearing about that and was blown away but no one else even mentioned it so I wasn't sure if it was true or not. But thinking about the compilations I've seen there really have been a lot of venues. And most of em real nice, too.

40 unique venues has always seemed like a huge commitment of art and modelling resources.
I am half wondering if there's some overlap or reuse of the venues in some manner. (For example, the same venue but with different skins and textures)

LMAO...that would sick if one of them was atop a moving vehicle...jumping from one to the other as the vehicles crash...
Or say you are on a moving train...and if you fail the song the train enters a tunnel and your band just gets destroyed cuz they didnt duck.

I'm pretty sure Harmonix wouldn't do that, solely because they wanna take a somewhat more serious twist on the whole band thing, so jumping from vehicles as seen in the Rock Band video wouldn't cut it. Cool, yes. Probable, no.
And the number of venues IS one of my favorite parts of the game. I love that there's so much potential with your band in this game. Plus, there's a Chicago venue, and what could be cooler than that (other than the character creator, of course)? :D

Well, Chicago is my home town, so that takes precedence for me. :D But playing in Boston would be sweet. I hope they have as many venues for Chicago as they do for Boston.

heh, understandable. I'm originally from 15mins outside Boston, so that's my home town too. Chicago is a pretty sweet city as well. There will be tons of venues in both surrounding areas. It will be sick.

I sure hope theres gonna be an Orlando venue.

I suspect there will be an Orlando venue?
Could be part of the Boston string. Not really sure if all the venues interconnect with the different career paths.
Because you pick a hometown: LA, Chicago, Boston. Obviously you play local venues, but when you hit the open road, I wonder if you then hit the same type of venues. I would imagine they would hit up Florida.
Disney World would rock!! :D

This is just my idea of some places you go: (I did my best on pinpointing cities. But you get the idea)

I'm sure some people will have something to say about the missing states (wyoming, nebraska) but do they have computers there? lol JK :D
But I think it's a good idea of where we can look to be rocking out!

I'm actually pretty excited about this feature, but more because what it implies. I hope that the 40 arenas (or however many) means a really cool World Tour mode. The idea of slowly progressing through the ranks of superstardom, instead of 1) complete 4 of 5 songs, 2) you move up in "rank", 3) repeat.
Aside from the examples given below, I'd like to see some really crappy venues for the earlier parts of your career. Things like a parking lot, or playing at a mall, or something like that. I'm sure there will be one like that, but having more than one to play at in the early days of your career would be nice.

Everyone forgets the venue cities were announced. Overlooked indeed. This should be in the n00b guide.

Are those all the venue cities, or just the hometown cities? Hopefully the latter...how can you overlook the birthplace of Rock and Roll (Cleveland) in a game called Rock Band? :)

Playing in Boston at Fenway on top of the green monster. Another chance to plug Tessie by Dropkick Murphys to be in!

The former.
I wanted The Rathskeller!!!!!
With a game made in Boston, by Boston rockers, I'm let down.

I can live without NC being in the game, because I only use this state for their schooling. I am a bit disappointed that the tour isn't coming here, nor anywhere nearby.

I remember in this one interview that for DLC,if you buy a album of a band, you can also buy there stuff. Say if you bought a ACDC album, you can also buy Angus' Outfit or if you bought some Ozzy you could also buy a place that resembles Ozzfest.
Fergot which one though.Anyone remember it?

I do but it was never official. More like an idea they were throwing around.

buy Who's Next and get the Isle of Wright venue and the outfits they wore in 1970(I know the album came out a year later, but I want my bassist to sport the skeleton suit :D)
I hope they make it official cause that would be awesome!!!
