Any of you know any proper good effects pedal, cheap would help. I have a reverb kit, and a nice bit of distortion on my amp, I just wanted something that you think would be good.
And also, you know since the thread is called, "any recommendations", yay or nay to me getting a 40gb PS3 to play all my PS1 games plus MGS4 when I have a 360 and Wii. Waste of money?
Chrz you guys: A forumer knows nothing. A forum knows everything :p

I just read that the 40 GB PS3 being released in Europe has zero backwards compatibility. So you really may not want to invest into it. Sorry :( So I would vote nay in that case. Just pick one up in the future when the price becomes manageable. My vote = nay
As for effects pedals, I know nothing. Zero. Nada.

Reread it. It has zero PS2 compatibility. It does support PS1, what I want basically.

Ah, I apologize. The title reads "Sony announces 40 GB PS3 -- Has no backwards compatibility, at all" and I honestly only skimmed through it. You are right, sir. Then I would say go for it then. I'll change my vote to yay.

:p Its £299, which I like. I could not care less for any other item. But I dunno, I mean the PS3 is all nice en all but compared to the 360, its markedly similar...
Hmm. I dunno.

It really all matters on what effect you want. Wah? Distortion? Chorus?
If it's Wah, get a Crybaby. If you want an amazing distorted Wah, get a Crybaby slash edtion
If you want Distortion, you can't go wrong with a DF-7 Distortion Factory pedal.
If you want like, a chorus pedal, I would suggest Boss CH-1 SUPER Chorus Pedal.
Actually, Guitar Center has ANY effect pedal you would need:

Forgot about this (http://www.guitarcenter.com/shop/product/buy_digitech_whammy_pedal_with_midi_control?full_s ku=100883446) for Tom Morello type stuff... especially KITN. Add dive bombs to that 'cause they added that in the new version (for metal, like Pantera).

Right now as your a beginner you dont need to worry about any of that stuff. You need to focus on playing and making yourself better. Using pedals, all kinds of effects ect to try and get some cool sounds will lead to distractions and you wont focus on playing better. Alot of distortion, effects, pedals and ect will mask your flaws and you wont be able to figure out what your doing wrong. Thats why I play everything I learn clean and when I've got it done crank up the distortion.

I was also gonna say something along these lines. Didn't you just start this summer? unless you're miles ahead other beginner guitarists, it's prob a bit early to be masking your playing with effects.

I've been playing for a little under 10 months and I don't use these things because I know il just get distracted, which I already have... just from my tremelo bar. Most teachers will tell you wait at least six months before even putting your tremelo bar in. I didn't listen and I should be better than I am now. I can imagine what they would say about added effects.

Thx for the advice. My tremelo sucks anyway, a few bursts and its out of tune...
Yeah this is to distract myself with the effects pedal. Thats the fun of learning by yourself. I just have fun playing the only 3 chords I know and playing at different tempos. I like it when I do that and then add distortion, then a bit of reverb on top. Its fun. I learn only what I enjoy.
I would rather learn to play it taking 2 years and enjoying it than learning to play it in 2 weeks with me working my arse off and being bored.
I'm loving it at the moment, playing around with the effects I have, playing some basic scales, doing stuff like not looking and do chords. Its fun. And at the end of the day isnt that what its all about?

Partially. You still need to work yourself to become better. Sometimes when I'm not doing anything but surfing the web I grab my guitar and do some finger exercises to warm up or strengthen my fingers. My pinky is a punk *****.

I don't wanna form a song or write songs (but me and my bassist buddy have talked about doing our own cover of Red Flag, not the Billy Talent one, the real anthem of socialism), I just wanna learn by fun. If I play this way or hold the pick incorrectly or I'm not sitting right - I don't care. I'm here to have some fun with a guitar. Whether I suck or play like Slash that guitar, so long as I'm trying, was worth every penny.
