Oh, wow. I have lots of favorites.

My all time favorite is Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse. That game is pure 2D action/platforming bliss. That game has to be at least 15 years old and I still never tire of it. Grant DaNasty was probably the coolest NES character ever.

My other faves are Super Metroid, Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario Galaxy, The Legend of Zelda (NES), Majora's Mask, Portal, Silent Hill 1 & 2, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Doom 1 & 2, etc...

As far as RPGS - Persona 3, Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy VI, Earthbound

I could go on and on but I think that covers the main ones.

Games I'm playing right now besides Rock Band is mostly just GTA 4, Guild Wars, and Penny Arcade Adventures, but I don't play any of them often, honestly these days I'm much more into watching anime than playing games.

Favorite games of all time, where to start. System Shock 2, Deus Ex (the first one, not the POS sequel), Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines, Suikoden series (especially the second one), Final Fantasy Tactics, any Fire Emblem game, Earthbound, Secret of Mana, Shadowrun (Genesis version), Shining Force 1 and 2, Portal (ZOMG a non RPG!), Legend of Mana, Chrono Cross, Morrowind, Thief 2. Just for the ones that jump immediately to my head, given some time to think I'm sure I could triple the size of this list easily. Honestly one of the main reasons I'm not as into gaming as I used to be is because the RPG genre has sliding down the slippery slope of idiocy for a while now, everything is being dumbed down, there's almost no such thing as turn based combat, everything has to be "ACTION PACKED LOLZ!" The days of the RPG's I enjoyed are passing into the annals of history. And good strategy RPG's have always been rare even though it's by far my favorite type of game. Le sigh, at least I have Rock Band, it will always be there for me.
