Yeah, I started listening to Flyleaf and The Mother Hips after getting Rock Band. I love finding little known bands/indie bands. There is so much good music out there that no one ever hears because it isn't mainstream.
I also started listening to more of Nirvana's catalogue, oh, and I am now a Nine Inch Nails fan. I didn't really like them growing up, but now I love stuff from With Teeth, Year Zero, and the Slip.
I also did the unthinkable: I put Boston on my ipod. Yeah yeah, I hear the whiners.. but I am just not a fan of classic rock... at all... just not my scene)
Not sure how long it will stay there, because admittedly, I'm not really digging it; but I'm trying.

I've discovered A LOT of songs & bands that I now listen to on a regular basis. Previously, I would only really find out about new songs by browsing what's popular in iTunes, so you can see how a lot of stuff in RB I had never heard before. :)

Oasis is quickly becoming one of my favorite bands, despite my closed minded view that Wonderwall was supposed to be this big girlly song. I was wrong, and Wonderwall doesn't even reflect the rest of their tunes.
I'm also loving "I Get By" and "Day Late & A Dollar Short", but I haven't listen to too much more from ether band. The same can be said for "Countdown To Insanity" as well, probably gonna serach for some HBlockX

I rediscovered my long lost love of Boston. Not to mention I didn't realize how much fun some of the Greatful Dead songs were on drums.
I've used Rock Band as a springboard to new sounds. It's a shame a few rather vocal others on these boards don't get that point.

The only band would be Muse, but that was way before an announcement was made that Hysteria would be in the game. I guess i was reading the Muse threads.

I never paid attention to those threads, but after getting Hysteria last night and listening to some of their other stuff on YouTube today I think I can say I'm "converted".

Quite a few such as Fly Leaf, Acro-brats, Coheed and Cambria and Judas Priest.
On the other hand, there have also been a few bands like Rush, The Who and Smashing Pumpkins where I knew one or 2 songs but, playing them on rockband has caused me to listen to pretty much everything they have written.

I'm Canadian, and I discovered Rush through Rock Band. I feel shame. Not that I didn't know "of" Rush, but I had never paid much attention to their music. I knew Geddy Lee as the guy from the Bob and Doug Mackenzie song and the dude who sat behind home plate a Blue Jays games.
